So the remains of 751 indigenous kids found in unmarked graves at another “residential school” in Canada.
And guess what pro-life institution ran the show at those schools…

i almost posted about this, but couldn’t settle on where to put it
Haskell’s history along these lines is pretty well documented, but it wouldn’t at all be surprising if more was uncovered (pun unintended)

indigenous peoples got fucked all around...not just by the religious folk

this is deeper than the Catholic church, but this seemed like the best thread

so bad, but tough to think the story here in the US isn’t going to be worse once everything becomes public...unfortunately, it’ll take tears for the DOI to fully investigate

#SaveOurChildren my ass. Repulsive in every way what was done to those children. I hope the Church as an organization is charge with Crimes Against Humanity.

both the canadian and US governments were more than complicit...this was institutionalized assimilation. heard it described as state-sponsored cultural genocide as well.
although i should be carful...mich might label me treasonous since i’m questioning things our government has done, and might make it look bad
edit: Sec. Haaland:
"I know that this process will be long and difficult. I know that this process will be painful. It won't undo the heartbreak and loss we feel," she said. "But only by acknowledging the past can we work toward a future that we're all proud to embrace."
Haaland better be careful...she might get labeled by pubs as pushing CRT

do they pass around different donation collection trays during services?
or do they actually actively participate in fundraising initiatives?
given the demographics of followers, us it all that surprising that, if given the option, more whiteys would donate for a shiny new cathedral than for the family of an unwashed, uneducated heathen

Classy post.
Pretty sure that any parent would hold out hope for their child to recover. You must not have any kids.

Yea, not sure why we would ridicule someone praying their child would walk again.
Weird.

There is a good lesson here. I mean that sincerely. Trad is a dickhead to me & a few others around here, but i genuinely would guess that he's a good dude in real life. I think he's a good, well intentioned, human....but the political/social/etc. stuff has made us all so hateful of anyone who remotely resembles "the other side", even when it's about something that doesn't deserve it. I mean come on, that article was about a child getting hurt on a trampoline. A freak accident that would be a nightmare for a parent. And i truly believe that comment doesn't reflect the true chatacter of Trad, but we've been conditioned to always throw the jabs, never pass up a chance to hit the opponent, nothing is off limits. I hope it isn't always going to be this way.
