I can't tell if that's a satirical statement pointing out the spreading of misinformation that is expected to occur under Musk's reign... Or just a typical idiot on Twitter

because he doesn't owe us a million dollars.

if we each had a million dollars that we didnt have yesterday their would be a spending frenzy. Supply would crash, prices would skyrocket. The economy would burst. Short term it would look great...long term it would be terrible. The prices would jump on everything...and stay high long after that money was spent. In 3-5 years we'd be in a worse spot than we are today.

Yes, now that I have had/taken more than 5 seconds to do the math - it's obviously WAY off.
Wonder if Elon would have deleted the tweet and banned the tweeter.

He'd also have a hell of a time coming up with the actual cash to do that. Banks don't sit around with all the cash to cover all their deposits.

When covid hit we had people trying to come in and withdraw hundreds of thousands of dollars from various branches and then freak out when we were like "hey we need a few days to order the funds and have them delivered". Banks don't sit around with millions in cash in vaults.

jeff bezos is now mad because he doesn't get to decide what is misinformation.

barrack obama is now mad because he doesn't get to decide what is misinformation.

george soros is now mad because he doesn't get to rule on what is misinformation.

bill gates is now mad because he doesn't get to rule on what is misinformation.

of course not...they take our money to make money. cash sitting in a vault doesn't make money.

There is truth in there.

And if Musk makes the algorithm stuff public info for how/why things go viral, then I think that is an improvement to what is currently going on.

The algorithms for what gets shared and how often need fixing but, in my opinion, that content should not be blocked, even though it is demonstrably false.

If ( what many of us, myself included ) morans want to feed on bullshit, that's not promising, but even more dangerous, to me, is silencing who we think are morans permanently. I would give extra 'boost' to credible news sources in the feed, which Twitter already does, but you can't force someone to follow that content if they don't want to.

That's a huge issue - censorship is seen by some as affirmation of the falsehoods. You accidentally censor something that turns out to be true, and these people take that as evidence that censorship is just an indicator that something is true. They have no idea how logically invalid that is.

The QAnon cult even had that as a regular thing - whenever something was censored, they would say "we must be over the target".

I like the holistic approach Obama is going after here, but something needs to be done fast.

My parents did.

I guess I should have gotten in on that. Didn't think much of it at the time it happened.
