There's just 4 QBs averaging 300+ ypg with a 70% completion rate or better. Mahomes is one of them. Every single QB has "missed some reads the last two weeks". Crazy what our expectations have become for him as well as what a loss does to people's recall.
There was a recent article about how Mahomes has entered that rare territory where "really good" just isn't good enough from him. Fair or unfair.
Some people are genuinely going to consider it a down year if he doesn't throw for 5,000+ yards and 50+ TDs due mostly to idiotic preseason speculation in write ups by glorified fanboys who have blogs/podcasts, etc...
I'm not sure what it is based on, but I'm not so sure that those expectations are all that unfair. It's LeBron territory.

I do think a lot of the individual expectations are based on what Mahomes has already shown he can do. His "down year" looks a lot different than most.

I think it would have been understandable if the Bucs didn't make the playoffs last year considering all the new personnel and the fact that New Orleans was loaded. But, it's Brady. He doesn't really get that low bar.

The Bucs were absolutely loaded too.
Good offensive line, deadly defensive line and arguably ( i already argued equal or better ) better skill position cast than KC ( Evans, Godwin, Gronk, Fournette/Jones > Hill, Kelce and ...? ).

Brady knew what he was doing -- Pats were in salary cap hell.
Like LeBron joining the Heat.

The difference between Favre and Mahomes is the ability to make reads and protect the ball. Mahomes could have destroyed Baltimore and the Chargers. A no-look interception and two incredibly forced telegraphed interceptions later, they lost. He can't just play outstanding ball, then throw it all away on three drives. If he has 5,000 yards passing and 30 interceptions, it will be a cold winter. Beyond the interceptions, there were several passes where he never looked away from covered receivers (generally Kelce). He is strong enough to shoe-horn throws almost anywhere, but needs to go through the progressions better.

If was it Fulton catches that pass, Hill doesn't fumble, CEH doesn't fumble I think Mahomes woulda put up major stats on the Chargers easily enough.

But if and butts.

Odd take by TDub. The Chiefs stat lines were great in both losses. But. If. Rinse repeat.

odd take by me?

its odd to say somebody could've easily destroyed the opponent....in a game thats already been played....and lost.

The Chiefs beat themselves pretty badly. There were four straight drives ending in turnovers. The Chargers especially got lucky. And they were up two scores on Baltimore. It came apart quickly with sloppy play

Difference between "easily destroying" and beating ourselves though ( and the officials calling a debatable PI on 4th and long and not calling one on the goalline on the last play ).

We prob shoulda won but...not easily destroy.

destroying indicates multiple TD victory. Not eekin out a last minute win (if CEH doesn't fumble)....and certainly not trailing by double digits in the last few minutes

Yeah. Not sure why you are not following. If Mahomes had played up to his level, the Chiefs would have coasted to wins. He didn't, and CEH became a fumble machine.

If Kansas played up to its level we'd have 3 or 4 titles last decade....but they didn't....whats your point? We can do this all day If If If If.....its all dumb

Bad decision by Reid not challenging the fumble. Chiefs needed a timeout anyway. Need to call them on defense this year. Teams keep going for it on 4th and are playing tempo.
