Mich hates free enterprise
We live in a country of laws and rules. It's up to you to decide if/how you want to abide by them but there are often unpleasant consequences if you don't follow them. No matter who is making them and what they are.
You should see Vegas now. Friday they switched their policy to no-masks-for-vaccinated people and tables are full and everything is packed. Pretty much nobody was wearing masks. It was really... I don't know... Weird?
Leaving it to the Honor System is fundamentally flawed. Most of those who behave honorably towards others got vaccinated.
The only person in my house that is unvaccinated is my almost 8 year old so she will continue to wear a mask when we go places for the foreseeable future. There will places where tyhe rest of us continue to wear a mask as well. It just depends on what it is and how we feel about the situation. We'll see how everything goes when they inevitably lift our local mask mandates. As a family, I suspect that we will still be cautious and choosy about where we go for several more months. I don't see us going to any movie theaters any time soon.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 10:59 am did someone say honor system?

Is there something to your hesitation beyond the possibility that your daughter might contract Covid? Because otherwise...I think you're good, man.twocoach wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 11:21 amThe only person in my house that is unvaccinated is my almost 8 year old so she will continue to wear a mask when we go places for the foreseeable future. Seems like a reasonable concern?jfish26 wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 12:22 pmIs there something to your hesitation beyond the possibility that your daughter might contract Covid? You can still get covid even if vaccinated and I would prefer not to risk my lungs or worse. I plan to ski on my 70th birthday. Like I said, it will be a case by case basis. It will take a bit before the wince response stops happening when I see a big group of people smashed together.jfish26 wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 12:22 pmIs there something to your hesitation beyond the possibility that your daughter might contract Covid? I guess from my standpoint, unless and until they shut schools down again, you're talking purely marginal risks.hasbeen wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 1:10 pmSeems like a reasonable concern?jfish26 wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 12:22 pmIs there something to your hesitation beyond the possibility that your daughter might contract Covid? Most likely. But I'll be evaluating every scenario for a while just to make sure I am comfortable with her being there. I am certainly not worried enough that I want mask mandates to stay in place. It's time to take the next steps to move forward in my opinion. At least where I live.
Right. I will do pandemic-level masking and distancing for two weeks prior to travel that requires testing. Not worried about dying, just don't want to fuck up plans.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 1:32 pm As my RN wife pointed out to me recently. You can still contract Covid, this vaccination just helps reduce the severity of the sickness. As she described it, you likely won't be on a hospital bed if you get it, you probably won't even know you had it.
What would be a good solution in your example would be some sort of "passport" permitting testless travel, so long as you could prove you received the "vaccine."CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 2:26 pmRight.
