in old uncles world. in burnie sanders world. you should be able to feed a family of 4. save for college. buy a house. take a vacation. all on a crunchwrapmakers salary.
Unsurprising, but man is this bleak and, frankly, hateful way to look at things.
And also quite stupid: how exactly do you think things can
work, if you close the border to people who DO want the jobs that put what you think of as a "middle class" existence out of reach?

if that were true, a crunchwrap in canada would cost $1.38. but it doesn't. it costs $13.99.

We all know some Supremes are more expensive than others.

Ah, but there actually IS a demographic that would be happy to make those crunch wraps. They show up when expected, they don’t spend half of the working day on social media. They buy things.
All they want in return is to be:
Left alone
Not treated like shit by folks they don’t know
Allow them to send money back to their families (who desperately need it)
You know, kind of what we all want.
that is very romantic. if it were only true.
It is true.
But getting less true by the day, thanks to you mouth breathers

Sounds like your “beef” is with Canada…not Mexicans

When MICH hears "make a run for the boarder", it has to be a bit confusing for him.
He makes a run to Canada to get himself some Mexican food, that is about as authentic Mexican as Chop Suey is, and then he doesn't understand why he pays $13.99 (Canadian) for some crunchcraps when it's really about $10 in US dollars, and doesn't realize he really has no one but himself to blame for paying the $13.99 (or $10, or whatever) for the low grade dog food he chooses to consume and/or feed the people he cares about.
Meanwhile,

Their profits grew and they still made some specious arguments about inflation. If they spent more than they earned, then it would not be profit. They have the option of say, trying to improve their product. Shareholder value stuff as they cashed out first and bet against themselves. America.

After we first moved here, my daughter developed kidney stones. She had to have some kind of procedure to have them removed. Doc gave her a couple of prescriptions. I went to the local Walgreen's to have them filled.
As I got back to the pharmacy, the pharmacist was closing the metal gate thingie in front of the cash registers. I thought it was odd, it was 10am. As I got closer I could hear him saying, "Fuck this, I don't need this shit anymore."
Fortunately, I had the 'scripts in hand and went on down the road to another pharmacy.

On average, I would say 3 times a week.
I find many Walgreen's to indeed be "complete shit".
News comes as little surprise to me too.
About a year ago the small Walgreens across the street from me closed. Served it's purpose well for me. Also got my scripts filled there. I was very disappointed it closed.
Meanwhile, I have about 6 other Walgreen's within easy walking distance of where I live and work.
I feel bad for the people who won't have that ability/accessibility with the closures.

I have too many pharmacy (Walgreen's and others) horror stories to share.
In the past few years, Covid has had a major impact on pharmacies and about a month ago the Target near me unexpectedly closed their Pharmacy.
If I had to guess, there were many hundreds if not thousands of people who would get their prescriptions filled there frequently.

I certainly hope there are.
I have no doubt it will have a negative impact on a substantial amount of people.
Part of me feels there isn't much else to say other than - Oh well, that's the way the world works. Things change and shit happens.

While I think we can all agree that it's Joe Biden's fault that for the first time since WWII the value of a home in America declined almost 20 years ago leading to the housing crisis and the shortage of affordable single family homes ever since, it could be worse:
