When a knife-wielding assailant began stabbing people inside a Sydney shopping mall, one man — a French national whose visa was about to expire — attempted to stop the attacker using only a barrier post. The Frenchman has been widely hailed for his bravery, and Australian officials now say he can stay in the country for as long as he likes.

Video footage from Saturday’s stabbings shows Damien Guerot confronting the attacker, who was attempting to take an escalator to a higher floor inside the mall. Guerot can be seen edging toward the attacker, raising a dark pole to deter him. He later told local media that he and his friend “really wanted to stop” the attacker and were acting on adrenaline...

We've really streamlined the steps from denial to acceptance? In fact, you might say we live in a post-acceptance world.

If only there had been another good guy with a gun there to shoot the first good guy with a gun before he killed the innocent teenager.

And he had a similar incident in 2022 where he followed someone he thought had a gun. Sounds like the guy is very determined to be a hero, damn the consequences.

Wasn't the guy who got killed on the bus in Atlanta a "good guy with a gun"? Got himself killed and supplied the crazy person with a gun.

Oh good, the SCOTUS has struck down the Trump-era ban on Bump stocks*. I'm sure police and law enforcement officers are thrilled!

Let the mass killings resume!

No surprise, the vote was Republicans 6, reasonable justices, 3.

*A "bump stock" allows the conversion of a semiautomatic gun into a gun that will function more like a machine gun.

I guess the "well" in well-regulated means "desirably-" and not "within-six-time-zones-of-spitting-distance-of-reasonably-".

Tell that to my younger brother and his friends who have been stockpiling ammo and AR-15s and AK-47s along with freeze dried food for the inevitable war with the "deep state", for the last 30 years.
