The item listing, the certificate, and the convo I had at the auction with the guy who bought it all said the same thing: let's do this trip by no later than early September, as the brook trout fishing on these small streams is only good in the warmer months, and just aren't biting the same once the temps drop.
During that convo with the guy who bought it, he says, "oh ok, so if you recommend early September by the latest, then let's shoot for early September." I maintain - dude, that's 2 months from now, so if you 're able to do it aaaaany time in the next two months, let's do that, it'll be a lot better experience. The dude, almost defiantly, doubles down. "Actually, I think it's best to do it early September."
...
Goddamnit yall.

ok
what's your point?
you say by early September, now your mad that he wants to do it in early September.
no where in there did you say....give me a months advance warning to prep for the trip or anything of that nature.

Re: Totally random thread
my point is, I'm just not sure how you and illy can be so determined to insist the entitled one here is me.
or rather, maybe my point wasn't a point all along, but rather a question:
if he knew all along he didn't wanna do the trip during the time recommended up front, then why'd yall even bid?
Re: Totally random thread
Not your problem. He was obviously interested in supporting the same worthy organization as you as evidenced by him bidding on it.
If it's expired then tell him.
It it's not, then fulfill your obligation.
Judging by your continued use of the word "recommended" time frame, it sounds like you just don't want to do what you donated.
An adult would self reflect and learn that next time put an established time frame on whatever you donate. Not a suggestion. That's how adults do things. I paid for my kid to go to horse camp. They tell us the exact days and times. Super easy process to follow.

Re: Totally random thread
dude, like I said, I don't wanna be some stickler and give some hard expiration date for a donated nonprofit fundraiser trip.
I'm just struggling to understand why someone would bid on an item if they never intended to agree to the terms of the item listing.
I totally WANT to do this trip, which is a big part of why I donated it! I just wanted to do it when the trip is actually good, instead of having to wait on some tourist who thinks the world revolves around yall.
I fucking DID put an established time frame on what I donated! I said it on the item listing, on the item certificate, and when I should the winning bidder's hand. I repeatedly and explicitly said so precisely to avoid this sort of situation!
I just don't know why that was so difficult for him - and for you and TDub - to understand. I'm not trying to be high maintenance by suggesting a 2+ month window for such a trip, I'm just trying to afford the best trip possible.
But if we may really have a moment of adult self-reflection (lulz), please realize your argument here amounts to little more than showing up a couple weeks after the camp's over, and expecting your kid to still get to ride horses.

Re: Totally random thread
So tell him he missed the deadline. I doubt he showed up to you and beavs shitty apartment unannounced. He obviously had to call to set it up.
Pretty fucking simple.
But you know that, you're just here in hopes someone would tell you how nice of a guy you are for donating something. And then double self righteous moral high ground points for not imposing some hard expiration date on some tourist you don't like. Way to look out for others you good soul.
Give yourself a pat on the back brother. You deserve it.

Q: do this trip by early September.
Customer: OK I wanna do the trip in early September
Q: You entitled asshole, why can't you just do the trip in the timelobe I gave you? Fucking asshole tourist.
??
you gave him a timeline, he picked a time in your timeline. You're upset.
Tell me what I'm missing?
This is like your favorite subject, check out times.
Check out by 11
customer checks out at 10:55, Q freaks out.
Why did you get into customer service? You don't seem to enjoy it and it doesn't appear to be your forte. Which, is fine, its not mine either. just not sure how you made it such a big part of your life.

Re: Totally random thread
Let’s see…what is TDub missing…where to begin!
The timeline was early September. As in the first week or so of September, but admittedly a little vague. In any case, not even calling until the 15th of September, so the trip inevitably won’t even happen until the second half of September, is no longer “early” September even by a generous use of the term.
And if checkout is 11am and they’re out at 10:55, no problem. The problem becomes when housekeeping goes in at 2pm and you’re still sitting in the room and get all standoffish like “Whaddayall mean I can’t just hang in here indefinitely?” (Heads up bro, this 10:55 shit is yet another example of Qusdahl living in your head)
I’m no longer in customer service - overwhelmingly cuz I was just too tired of yall customers being giant entitled assholes, while also always insisting the problem is *me.* (Sound familiar?)
Btw, I’ve since returned the winning bidder’s call. He wants to go out tomorrow! “Yea I know I’ve been MIA for 2.5 months and the season is over just like you said, but I decided now is the time, whaddyall mean short notice, I just assumed you have nothing at all going on in life beyond awaiting my call about a nonprofit auction item you donated, so please accommodate, I mean I’ve got a tight schedule these days, yall know…”

First week or so.
Never seen a deadline like that!
Horse camp is the first week or so of June! See you then-ish.

Re: Totally random thread
Think of it this way!
If I came here whining about how I was expecting some service by no later than “early September” and now that I called on the 15th and the service sucks now, could you even imagine the amount of shit you guys would give me?
Or - TDub, what if you showed up to one of your contract jobs scheduled for 9am, and the homeowner said “actually let’s make it 2:30” would you just sit around patiently twiddling your thumbs?

If yall booked in July or August as was repeatedly suggested up front, this all woulda been moot.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 5:16 pm First week or so.

Re: Totally random thread
so he missed the recommended timeline by....3 days, if you break September up into 3 segments being early mid and late.
Ok, then maybe your should've been more clear in the details.
Coupon to be used no later than September 10th.
I dunno, seems you're making a mountain out of a molehill.
like...you regret signing up to do it.
Which again, is fine. Just say that instead of slamming blame all over the place for minor issues.

you go do another job and come back when its available.
Although, anymore I very rarely do any jobs that are a 1 day type handyman gig. So that's irrelevant more or less anymore. But, on a bigger picture...yea my schedule changes all the damn time and I have to work around multiple people, owners, and subcontractors.

Re: Totally random thread
"9am" is a scheduled event that I expect to be respected. "Early September" is a season. Just use actual dates and you won't have this problem. You're clearly bothered by it being on a date of the 15th so why not just spend 5 minutes prior to sending out the donated item and think about a specific date that you wouldn't be bothered by and writing it on the donated item as the "good until" date. Problem solved.ousdahl wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 5:16 pm Think of it this way!

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
Re: Totally random thread
I fucking WANT to do it well. That’s why I want to do it when it’s good to do, rather than when some asshole who thinks he knows better finally decides he feels like doing it.twocoach wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 5:26 pm"9am" is a scheduled event that I expect to be respected. The “early September” was intentionally vague, cuz - I’ll admit! I didn’t know what the weather in the middle of September would be like back in early July.
Now that we’re in the middle of September, I can confirm: it’s cold and rainy. You know, precisely the type of weather I was hoping to avoid.

By its very nature, it’s hard to say precisely what it’ll be like tomorrow, let alone 2 months from now.
