Some dude for Arizona State came off their bench and scored 43 of their 56 points. Never seen a box score for a team look so bizarre. Only three players scored for Arizona State.
Oh, and Kentucky lost to Utah in the middle of the night.
That "dude" (Alonzo Verge) is a Chicago area kid and I have seen him play in person.
I could be mistaken but I think he's one of the guys I gave praise to on .net a few years ago.
Obviously he has skills. I think he was an academic question mark from day 1 and that's why schools shied away from him.
Besides being a Chicago area kid, he has something else in common with Anthony Davis, Derrick Rose, Patrick Beverly, Eric Gordon, and Tyler Ulis.
It cost $200,000 to sign him?

Geezer - Maybe, also - they may have all had someone take their SATs for them.
pdub - Fortunately for them, no.
They all played for the same AAU "organization" - Mean Streets

I wonder if they found more dirt or if it simply comes down to not wanting to waste time waiting. His suspension was up soon right?

given the timing - the end of this semester and just a couple weeks before his suspension is up - it almost seems like he prob didn't do the schoolwork to play college ball for the rest of the season.
orrr maybe he just didn't have the cash to pay back to the charity of his choice LOL

I checked when you posted that and sure enough KU was the favorite at 6-1 (which may be the best odds I have seen for betting on a favorite). The next two closest teams were Gonzaga and Louisville at 8-1.
After today - I would have no problem taking the field against KU and laying the 6-1. I figure we now go to 8-1 / 10-1 after today.
Overall, I feel the quality of the "elite" teams is/are pretty much garbage compared to many teams in past years.
2008 team beats this team 9 out of 10 times?

Two New Mexico starters, forward Carlton Bragg and point guard JJ Caldwell, have been suspended indefinitely, the school said in a release on Sunday.

Not Carlton!?! He was always all about the team.

I know this is harsh but I feel there should be a rule that if you get suspended 3 times (no matter how many schools you play for) you lose your eligibility.
On another note...
(Indonesian) buddy of mine (who is a UT alum) and I often joke about Hudy leaving KU and going to UT and how it affects both programs.
He sent me the following text last night.....
70-48 to Providence.Thanks Hooty.
That's one good thing we know she's good at. Collecting a paycheck. In a world of Sir Charles.
Unfortunately, the word must have gotten out around college campuses that there is a sucker in UT Austin with a ton of booster money willing to overpay for coaches. Can't fault Hudy for jumping at that while it's still hot. The woman just wants to get paid. Even if that meant severing her 15 year relationship with KU.

Not sure what you're trying to imply here (and the "Indonesian" part is weird). But, it seems like another example of overrating the impact of S&C coaches in CBB.
Also, Hudy also left b/c of politics and bureaucratic structure, not money. It did seem odd that she went to a program where the coach was on the hot seat, though.
