Rarely shown cool moment on CNN tonight as the curfew began...some peaceful protestors did not want to leave when curfew began. Rather than tear gas or be physically aggressive several cops pleaded with the few people that appeared to be leaders of the group. Eventually they dispersed. How the cop and the protestor spoke to each other was so respectful. Then the protestor helped with getting the other protestors to comply with the curfew even though he said it was BS and even the cop somewhat agreed it seemed like. The cop kept saying please I do not want to do this but I have no choice we have to enforce this order somehow, Please help us, I want to see you here tomorrow and the next day and the next day etc.

We've seen a lot of these instances over the years, but never have i seen so many cops also being vocal about how change is needed.

Correct, and as I said I agree with Geezer’s premise concerning societies being systemically racist, this is one of those learned behaviors, and perhaps, just maybe, those younger than most of us will embrace current events to bring about meaningful change.

I suppose time will tell.

What the f&$(:@ were the people of Kentucky not thinking when they voted for Rand Paul (A-hole)? He just crawls out from under a rock every few weeks, does something to prove that he is an excretory orifice and then crawls back under the rock.

This is a basal skull fracture, until proven otherwise:

The cops initial story was that he tripped and fell and that would have been the end of it if it wasn't caught on video.

Fire and arrest the officer who pushed him and suspend the officer who pushed away the officer who attempted to provide assistance.

The fact that we we see multiple videos like this PER DAY now is part of the bigger problem. This was completely unnecessary and was purely an officer treated someone as less than human.

Eh, that's not martial law. That is federal law enforcement aiding local enforcement in the enforcement of civil law.

If you don't like it when Trump haters dramatically overstate things then don't do the same.

Here is a different angle. I would guess the person is easily 50 if not 100 feet away and you can clearly hear the sound of his skull hitting the concrete. DO NOT watch if you are easily squeamish.

HD - I haven't asked for anything. I have mixed feelings about multiple National Guard "stations" being within blocks of where I live. As I said to the two African Americans who are sitting on the bench to the right in my last photograph, "We could have really used them around here 6 days ago".
I was having a text conversation with two friends this morning. Easy to say things in hindsight. I am just an asshole with an opinion but my worthless opinion is mistakes were made by the Mayor and Governor. Better to have prepared for the worst and not have it happen than not prepare for the worst and have it happen. I have no idea exactly what did and didn't happen in terms of preparation and directives from the Mayor, Governor, and Police Commissioner but what happened on Saturday in my neighborhood was atrocious. Our Mayor says it's 100% on those who committed the acts of violence. Yes and no. Of course I lay 100% of the blame for the violence on those who committed it BUT... The Police who's "motto" in Chicago is "Serve and Protect" - served but did NOT protect. I feel they bear some responsibility for the repercussions of the actions of those who committed the acts of violence.

That's someone just driving around looking to video something to show her white Facebook friends how "involved" she is.

Is she ever not pissed or telling someone off? I like Rand Paul. He calls it like it is and doesn't care who it offends. And he usually manages to do so without trying to shout down others in the process.
