Agree. I think Monken is ready for something new. He accomplished some great things at Army like beating Navy, giving OU a run in Norman, pushing Michigan to OT. He is ready now, I think.
I have also read that he has said if he would move to P5 that he would run more of a spread offense. Mixed feelings on that. I don't want the option, but I think he would need some major help to play a spread.
I've heard that as well. He's going to have option concepts though to his offense. He's been involved in an option offense for like 25 years. That won't go away, but he knows he won't be able to get guys here if he runs a triple-option offense.
It sounds like if Monken were to take a power 5 job, he'd run option concepts similar to Fritz at Tulane or Chadwell at Coastal Carolina.

KU is a much better job on paper than it was two or three years ago and I believe coaches and agents know that. The roster is actually full. You can recruit with the full amount of schollies. This staff is actually pretty good. More importantly the back end resembles a P5 program and all levels of senior administration are backing football for success. If you can drop off the bag in the 2 million range the HC that takes this job knows they have three or maybe four years to do nothing but be competitive and build the program. This program is dying to have someone who wants to push this program to a Iowa State or KSU of the 90s - early 2000s level.
Leipold, Monken, Fritz and it sounds like in any scenario that Jones will be retained.

Coastal is the perfect comparison. They run an option-based spread offense. They can go 4 wide, but still run option down your throat and dominate TOP, and they don't even have the biggest OL in the world either. Bunch of undersized guys who get leverage.

Too bad we can't just get the Coastal coach.

I think a lot of that is true but not sure how much better it amounts to.
You have said Leipold would be a home run, a candidate that has less than or equal qualifications as Turner Gill, who was not a first choice candidate.

Don't think Leipold and Gill are close to being similar except for the school they mutually coached at. Leipold much better record, his high-end record is 2 games better than what Gill had.

I'm shocked South Carolina couldn't.

I see now that I too could've became an AD for a major university.

Seems like a really good dude. Paid the lowest among Big 12 ADs. Half of what along made. So he’ll have to work his tail off to get paid more, but hopefully his youthfulness helps out.

I haven't looked, but wonder if the $ changes next fiscal year or two to absorb the Long buyout.

I had to look. 3 year anniversary compensation re-evaluation. Mostly subjective performance bonuses up to 20%.
Still wonder if he gets a pay bump in a year.

You would have to think that if he performs well KU will reward him handsomely.

I think this is the thing about Leipold that appeals to me the most.
I know Vernon and Stricker aren't popular around here (but they are/have been extremely accurate), but Vernon took to Twitter last night to say Leipold would be receptive should KU approach him. I think that's why we have to go after him now. If he coaches another season at Buffalo and gets them bowl-eligible for a 5th straight year, he's going to get bigger and better job offers.

Yeah if Leipold goes 8-4 or 7-5 (which is very likely) he will be getting a job offer at Purdue, Va Tech or Syracuse.
If you want him, you go get him right now.

Goff impressive presser today. Confident, thrilled to be in a top spot in a place he calls home. He's going to do everything in his power to make Kansans and Jayhawks everywhere proud because he is a Kansan and a Jayhawk.
Already mentioned he has a plan for football, but can change if he feels the need to do so. Already stopped by the football practice yesterday.
