Nothing a good guy with a gun could/can/will cure.
Remember when we had a Surgeon General who told us (by "us" I mean mothers of Hispanics and Black people) we need you to do this, if not for yourself, then for your abuela. Do it for your granddaddy. Do it for your Big Mama. Do it for your Pop-Pop. We need you to understand — especially in communities of color, we need you to step up and help stop the spread so that we can protect those who are most vulnerable".
Maybe Murthy can channel his inner Jerome (Adams) and say something similar to "us".

33 and counting.
It's 8:17am and there have been at least 33 people shot in Chicago since 12:00am.
At least 2 "mass" shootings.
Of course we have a major people problem but we absolutely have a gun problem too. As I say way too often, if people don't have a gun, they can't shoot someone. So.... I feel guns are at least 50% of the problem when we discuss shootings.

Kentucky. Around 2:45am. Mother possibly provided alcohol for minors. Shooter was 21 and shot himself. Was convicted of two felony sex crimes in 2021 for first-degree rape and second-degree sodomy. Yet, out and about and in possession of gun.
Block party in Detroit. Around 2:30am. No suspect in custody.
Biggest thing that pissed me off about the Chicago shooting on July 4th was that the shooters knew damn well there were young kids in the house when they shot it up. One kid is dead. One is "in real bad shape on a ventilator fighting for his life". The third kid "isn't doing well".

If you care and you don't know, then I feel you are an idiot.
I have zero doubt there are many (define "many" as you will - I define it as more than you would think) intelligent people that have no real idea what the specifics of their "stances" are other than basically Biden tough/strong and Trump soft/weak on "gun control".
I believe that generally speaking, there are more idiots who DO know the candidates stances on gun control than there are that don't.

Not being a smartass, honest question...
Has Biden made any significant strides in the gun control issue during his first 3.5 years?
At this point I don't care about "stances", we need action.

All depends on how you define "significant". A Google search will provide you with better examples than I will. At least I give him some credit for making an effort.
In regards to a lack of action, I choose to place more blame on Senators, Representatives, Justices, and Governors.

In 2022, President Biden accomplished what many had tried for the past 20 years—he succeeded in expanding background checks by signing into law the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. This law broadened the category of gun sellers required to become licensed dealers and run background checks...

Until the GOP gets trounced, we will never have any gun control in this country.
The NRA is on the ropes, but decades of thier political presence has enriched gun manufacturers to the point that they can afford thier own lobbying.

I did like the idea I read that Democrats should write up a new gun legislation bill and title it the Trump Assassination Prevention Act and force Republicans to vote against it.
