moral: don’t go to hawaii right now
So great.
Mrs. Fish and I are both fully vaxxed. Why wouldn't we travel?TraditionKU wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 1:56 pm don’t get me wrong, i’m itching like no other to travel
it just seems like a dumb decision right now, unless it’s absolutely necessary (work, family, etc). i especially would stay away from places where there are bound to be massive influxes if tourists, like hawaii
I have traveled for leisure in 2021 and it worked out great. You just have to know what you are getting into, do a lot of homework, and not be an asshole.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 1:56 pm don’t get me wrong, i’m itching like no other to travel

for me, it has zero to do with health, and more to do with convenience...i’m trying to avoid all the things jklivin was bitching aboutjfish26 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 1:59 pmMrs. Fish and I are both fully vaxxed. Thanks for the tip. I'll boot up my time machine and fix things right away.
Waikiki was crowded, but things were open and functional. It took a little longer to get into things and you had to walk more than normal, but it wasn't bad. Kauai, on the other hand, was a cluster hump. Was not prepared for that experience.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 2:00 pmI have traveled for leisure in 2021 and it worked out great. Hawaii right now, I'd stay the fuck away from Waikiki and maybe the entire island of Oahu. Packed to the gills is not my preference pandemic or no pandemic.
See my post below. It was not all bad. Some unpleasant surprises here and there, but also lots of good experiences and opportunities to connect with people in the same boat. Shared a cab to Lihue Airport with a nice couple from San Diego whose shuttle reservation had blown them off. Heard the stories and struggles of locals who have suffered during the pandemic. It put minor annoyances in perspective.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 2:08 pmwhat kind of experience did you expect?
Surprises me about Kauai. But, there might not be that many rooms there to begin with and people have been itching to get there as, if I am not mistaken, they were the last island to open up.JKLivin wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 2:08 pmWaikiki was crowded, but things were open and functional. The economy there seems to rely heavily on tourism, so the locals were bending over backward to be welcoming and accommodating. The bottom line is that there were too many tourists and not enough people back to work. Still had some great experiences - Waimea Canyon, NaPali Coast, and Puka Dogs were all good.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 2:13 pmSurprises me about Kauai.
