Now juxtapose, “prosperity is a zero sum game, and when the number of people who are taking exceed the number who are contributing, it becomes a slippery slope,” with the R/D state taker/contributor mix.
I am talking about citizens vs. non-citizens and legal vs. illegal residents. You can play your numbers games with tax revenue vs. subsidies, but at least these are people who are actually paying taxes.
Case in point, the convenience store I go to every morning to get my caffeine fix has started posting signs on Friday of every week that they cannot break $50 and $100 bills. The sign stays up all weekend. I asked the manager why the other day and she said that Friday is payday and that they have been overrun with Hispanic men starting at about 5:00 every Friday morning coming in with their week's pay in cash and paying for their lunch and snacks with $100 bills, which empties the register within a matter of an hour or two.
It is apparent that they are illegal, getting paid under the table, and cannot set up a bank account because of their status. It is illustrative of the amount of untaxed income that runs through my small, rural Michigan town extrapolated across the country, which is staggering.
HOLY poop.
"Case in point"?
"overrun with Hispanic men starting at about 5:00 every Friday morning coming in with their week's pay in cash".
Hmmmmm. "Overrun with Hispanic men"? Ok, you tell us what "small rural Michigan town" you are in that has a convince store that is being "overrun with Hispanic men". ZERO chance unless "overrun" translates to a handful. The store owner actually knows that these people are being paid in cash,,,, because they tell her so, or because she's making an assumption?
"starting at 5:00 every Friday morning coming in with their week's pay in cash".
Hmmmmm. That means they are getting paid before 5:00am. Interesting. I wonder who is paying them before 5:00am.
"which empties the register within a matter of an hour or two".
Sounds like a major problem! OH MY GOD!
Hmmmmm. If the store owner knows this, then why not have an abundance 20s, 10s, 5s, and 1? Unless of course she is ok with losing sales and money.
You actually said, "I am talking about citizens vs. non-citizens and legal vs. illegal residents. You can play your numbers games with tax revenue vs. subsidies, but at least these are people who are actually paying taxes".
Hmmmm. Where at any point in your story does it prove a "case in point" that the Hispanics coming in to the convince store are not paying taxes? Heck if anything it proves they are at least paying sales taxes. Right?
You actually said, "It is apparent that they are illegal, getting paid under the table, and cannot set up a bank account because of their status. It is illustrative of the amount of untaxed income that runs through my small, rural Michigan town extrapolated across the country, which is staggering".
Hmmmm. Your ASSUMPTION is they are "illegal", "getting paid under the table", and "cannot set up a bank account". You feel it is "apparent" all because they have $50 and $100 dollar bills?
Gee, if you see a Black man in your town with a $50 bill or $100 bill do you assume they are a drug dealer, gang member, thief, etc.?
"untaxed income that runs through my small, rural Michigan town". Tell us, approximately how many "illegals" are living in your small rural Michigan town"?
Please help us out. Why do you feel those alleged "illegals" spending money in your "small rural Michigan town" is a bad thing for you and your "small rural Michigan town"?
