Your buddy Dubya would be the radical lefty in this election, brother.
I would think you might possibly identify the, ah, reaction to Obama as one of the signposts on the road the right has taken from “let’s use culture wars to gin up engagement and donations” to “actually no we really mean this shit, comrade.”ousdahl wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2024 5:54 pm How quickly we forget about Afghanistan and Iraq huh.
For real tho, when was the last time the United States DID move to the left?
Has there even been a move within our lifetimes?
All the left-leaning movements - the Bernie campaign, BLM, Occupy Wall Street, what else? - have been ransacked by the establishment, and/or grifters, what the eff.

I remain confident that one of Heather Cox Richardson's fundamental theses is correct: so much of what's happening here is that (for example) little Mikey and Margie, growing up with Rush on the AM dial in their homes, have become (for example) Speaker Johnson and Representative Greene (and so on).Overlander wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2024 8:01 pm100%jfish26 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2024 7:51 pmI would think you might possibly identify the, ah, reaction to Obama as one of the signposts on the road the right has taken from “let’s use culture wars to gin up engagement and donations” to “actually no we really mean this shit, comrade.”ousdahl wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2024 5:54 pm How quickly we forget about Afghanistan and Iraq huh.

I am told Chuck Schumer had a blunt one-on-one conversation with Biden Saturday afternoon in Rehoboth. Schumer forcefully made the case that it would be best if Biden bowed out of the race.
Schumer's office wouldn't comment on the specifics of the conversation, telling me only, “Leader Schumer conveyed the views of his caucus.”

Hakeem Jeffries has expressed a similar view to Biden, according to a source familiar. A Jeffries spokesman tells me, “The letter sent by Leader Hakeem Jeffries to his House Democratic colleagues speaks for itself. It was a private conversation that will remain private.”
Jeez bro, you’re talking about me like I’m some kinda break room donut.Sparko wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2024 10:07 pm Need less navel gazing and more bare knuckles politics against these idiots. Reminds me of the Life of Brian where Eric Idle jokes his way out and back into crucifixion.
If people are successful in running Biden off the ticket, then they had better line the fuck up to support Kamala Harris because she is the only replacement that works. I don't want to hear any of that "but some people don't like her" shit because it is wholly irrelevant.jfish26 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 8:14 pmIt’s not fair.Shirley wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 7:59 pm Jonathan Karl ABC News Chief Washington Correspondent

But it’s also not fair for my daughters to grow up under a Putin-aligned Christian nationalist regime.
A well-executed (and Joe-fronted) stepping down is the best chance for the Ds to win, which looks like the only way to prevent that.
I agree with this. I think an open contest would be a disaster.twocoach wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2024 2:45 pmIf people are successful in running Biden off the ticket, then they had better line the fuck up to support Kamala Harris because she is the only replacement that works. I have been consistent in stating that I will vote for whoever the Dems run against Trump. If a change is going to be made then get it over with so we can move forward.
