Re: Totally random thread
Because tamales is based off a Spanish word tamal and female from Old English/Latin.

New President - New Gutter. I am going to pledge my allegiance to Donald J. Trump and for the next 4 years I am going to be an even bigger asshole than I already am.

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Sorry to hear that! Maybe put some butter on that fucker and eat it!
Supposedly if you make someone say the word toast many times quickly and then ask them what you put in a toaster - the majority of people will say - toast.

Copper fitting on pipe leaking/spraying water in our basement.
Thank god I noticed day of while going down to grab Halloween decorations.
No water this weekend -- coulda patched with some flex tape but know it'd make the plumbers life a lot tougher.

I think it fucked up an old monitor we had down there but basement is unfinished and luckily it was in the corner where we have our drainage. I also have my old Oculus VR set there so that's likely toast but meh, VR needs another 5-10 years anyways.
But yes, had it gone all day, we probably woulda been in some trouble.

What do we expect of VR in 5-10 years?
Re: Totally random thread
I'd say by 10 years it's very popular in gaming and porn ( VR ).
It's still too much a barrier, I think, in terms of simple logistics of weight and taking on and off.
They need to be seamless. And I'd also think, for gaming, games could be built as both regular screen and VR ( for an extra cost bundle ) - so if you weren't in the mood to play it in VR, you could play it on a standard screen.
And in 10 years, augmented reality will also be a norm - i.e. digital screens over your car windshield that help with driving/directions/parking and glasses ( either prescription, sunglasses or just clear ) that you can connect to 20G and it'll assist with things like fixing a leaking pipe.

I expect in 5-10 years a VR Zuck will be able to walk you through unclogging a kitchen sink so that you and beav don't need to depend on messageboard strangers to complete simple tasks.
Re: Totally random thread
Yea, I feel like it comes down to gaming and porn.
Gamers are the kinds of doods who already wanna stare at a screen for hours anyway, so VR prob only makes that experience cooler.
But porn…how do you make that VR? Animatronic sex bots? Cuz I still jerk off manually, Jackie.
And yea I guess some easy-to-wear glasses that augment reality could be a game changer. But otherwise, I dunno how you can replicate a brick-and-mortar shopping experience from a VR headset, at least for most products and services, right?

And to think, I was gonna un-foe him cuz I was *sure* after being publicly shamed in the boycott thread plus 2 weeks in the hole he’d come back a more amicable version of himself, even if briefly.
Sigh.
Let’s keep the foe going!
Also why am I randomly hungry now for Vietnamese soup?

To get the taste of the burned sausages and veggies I made for you out of your mouth?
Re: Totally random thread
I dabbled in it when the Oculus first came out.
I can see the appeal.
But yes, it's like a video game, for me, I can only play so much.
