Nick Bilton is part of the problem. "This time around, the president is proclaiming at his rallies that coronavirus is a “hoax” constructed by the Democrats."

That's just a bald-faced lie.
NOW you're upset? So, for the last nearly 5 years Trump has been twisting people's words and claiming they said things when they didn't and just making stuff up........NOW you're upset? His SecState won't even disavow that the virus epidemic is not a hoax (regardless of what Mulvaney said......Pompeo could have said "I don't know what Mulvaney said, but I don't believe that the virus is a hoax")

Why are you still defending the indefensible?
you forgot the vp’s unwillingness to even distance himself (and the administration) from dip-shit jr.’s comments about dems hoping for american deaths

personally, there’s part of me that wouldn’t be too upset if all those “would rather be russian than democrat” nut jobs got sick

(not really, but oh the irony)

Fed cutting rates by a half-point...which is really not a sensible response here at all.

Really looking forward to Democrats being accused of using the crisis as a political cudgel, while at the same time as Republicans use it to advance immigration, economic and soon perhaps 1st amendment policy, not to mention the spectre of challenging the viability or validity of an election.

Honestly, with 6 people dying in your area (you're in the pac-NW right?) you ought to hope it's everywhere.

6 people dying out of 18 confirmed cases is a lot scarier (to me) than 6 out of many, many infected people most of whom aren't confirmed because their symptoms aren't severe, or don't exist at all.
I only came to kick some ass...

can’t wait to hear more about what’s been going on at the CDC

whose decision was it to wait so long to start preparing tests once we all knew there was asymptomatic transmission?

whose decision was it to isolate ourselves from the rest of the world when we knew the first test kits were bogus?

why can nearly every other country test people by the thousands, while the CDC’s numbers have been in the hundreds?

heads should roll

I think there's a through line to all of this. And the only head to roll that would matter has been given explicit permission to use the authority of his office in furtherance of his self-interest.

Multiply the confirmed infected numbers by like 50x-100x and you'll be closer to a number that is realistic. The US might be taking a page out of China's testing/reporting game plan.

It's interesting reading from some expats in Korea, Japan, Italy, etc. say they have no desire to come back to the States right now.

he’s an easy scapegoat, and it’s obvious he could’ve pushed for those at the CDC to be more proactive, but surely there were decisions made within the CDC that were short-sighted and dangerous.

though, i admit to not knowing how the CDC is “supposed” to function in these scenarios. is there any autonomy, or is everyone sitting on their hands waiting for marching orders?

Agreed. I do think its everywhere. I used to live in snohomish county, and before that in king county. Now im in podunk eastern oregon....if its here its gotta be everywhere.

4 of the 6 that died in king county were in a long term senior health facility...now they are testing 27 firefighters and 2 police officers that responded to the Kirkland senior health facility.

"Draining the swamp" and eliminating the "deep state" meant gutting personnel and funding years ago. And now there is a very, very clear directive from the top: the market is the priority. Accordingly, keeping positive cases low is a priority. And how do you do that?

You can get tested. You just need the coded map, passcode and no, your insurance will not reimburse for anything.

So fucking dangerous.

Central bank policy has become an overt promise of asset inflation.

It's just so cynical - because the virus doesn't, like, turn your skin purple, an actual part of the plan here is to just choose not to distinguish between the cold, the flu, other infections and COVID-19.
