The lame duck president, on the morning he was to announce that he was a lame duck, secured the release of many Russian political prisoners.

"Market" getting hammered.
Thanks Joe!

Yeah, yeah, yeah, not his fault.
He only matters when "the market" is up and "the economy" is doing well.
I know, I know.

The economy is better now than it was during the 2022 mid terms, when many voters ignored the economy and voted out a ton of dipshit MAGA weirdos. I am hoping that continues in 2024.

Sorry kids but MICH does represent a lot of Americans. He's not wrong either.
Trump can and will run with the CURRENT state of "the economy" if we continue on a downward slide.
$ (inflation - cost of living) is the most important factor to voters.

makes me so very optimistic for the future
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Stocks have been way overpriced for years, and a pullback has been needed and in the cards for a long time. This isn't a bad thing, it's a good thing. In fact, it's a buying opportunity, unless you're selling your stocks, for some reason.

The Fed raised interest rates at an almost unprecedented rate in an effort to cool the economy down and suppress the booming labor market, i.e., wages.

Congratulations, if that was your goal, it's finally working.

When asked to define a recession, JP Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon said: Something that happens about every 7 years.

We haven't had a real recession in probably about 13 years.

People who expect the market to always go up are naive, and unrealistic. A reaction by the market to the prolonged march upward was always going to happen, and to deny that is naive, and unrealistic.

The average American voter is naive, and unrealistic...

Gutter, you are endorsing a lunatic call on anecdotal data that is spurious at best. Our job is to reinforce reality and, it is hope, relieve the disquieted masses yearning to breathe Trump's flatulence.

And the real players in the market have known this. They are also the ones who know how to capitalize on recession fears. They also know how to stoke the flames of fear for the purpose of their profit.

Because like the average American, thr average investor is naive, unrealistic, AND impatient/impulsive.

"impatient/impulsive" you say?

...Most big online stockbrokers experienced app outages amid stock market turbulence on Monday, according to a site that tracks such outages.

Users reported outages at Charles Schwab (NYSE:SCHW), TD Ameritrade (which is owned by Schwab), Interactive Brokers (NASDAQ:IBKR), Robinhood Markets (NASDAQ:HOOD), Fidelity Investments, Vanguard, and Morgan Stanley's (NYSE:MS) E-Trade, according to Downdetector.com. However, IBKR disputes any widespread outages at its site...
