Reached out to some nice people this morning on a whim - and they are making it possible for me to attend the Golden Globes.
Never in a million years did I think it could/would happen but they claim they were actually happy to accommodate me.
Moral of the story is.... Be good to people and they may be good to you?
if you promise to hold up a kcrim sign i’ll promise to watch
I could do that but I wouldn't want you to watch just for that reason.
Side note - Seems a few if not many, most, all, the actors and actresses are boycotting. Was it something I said?
Nope.
It's more of their I'm going to take a stand against the HFPA and I'm really going to show them b.s.
I'm understanding of their sentiment but not of their hypocrisy.

anybody following the murders at University of Idaho? odd deal.
Only casually. It is odd. I'm surprised they haven't found the killer yet.
there's a lot of weird abnormal things about it. I dunno, just strange. Bundy-ish, no leads, 2 roommates left alive.
By all accounts it was a pretty gruesome scene.....but the living roommate that called it in called it in as she couldn't wake her roommate up? And she only called the cops after she called her friend, who then came over.
A 28-year-old man, Bryan Kohberger, was arrested Friday morning in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains in connection with the murders of four University of Idaho students, law enforcement sources told ABC News.
Sources said that authorities knew who they were looking for and had tracked Kohberger down to Pennsylvania.
A SWAT team entered the location where he was staying in order to take him into custody Friday. Kohberger appeared before a judge Friday morning.
Moscow police officers, members of Idaho State Police, Moscow city leaders and University of Idaho officials will hold a news conference at 1 p.m. local time Friday...

I saw that! good, hope they treat him exactly as he treated the victims.
A PhD student in Crime/Justice/Criminology at WSU-Pullman. Crazy. Yet, he kept the car that the police had been asking everyone about for a month.....in the driveway where he was staying? Odd.

Plaster walls.....ugh.
Love them, hate them. Love to hate them.
That's all.

Just remember that if your clients can afford plaster walls, they can afford the repairs to the plaster walls caused by any remodeling.

fair point.....next time I bid a job with plaster walls....its going to increase.
Which....will be soon....and for the same people. Building from 1892, was an old brothel. Awesome old woodwork, beautiful.....but shut up and untouched since sometime in the 50s. Needs a tremendous amount of rehab.

Not sure what to make of this just yet. It sounds good and hopefully this means the place will out live me. I can't imagine KC without Arthur Bryants. I can member stopping there to get a sandwich on the way to Chiefs games at old Municipal Stadium as a little kid. When I need to gain favor with a public official in the Empire, I bring them a slab of Bryant's ribs and a bottle of sauce as a gesture of my esteem for them.

I saw that somewhere. In my opinion it's the birthplace of burnt ends.
Maybe they clean the joint up a little. Last I heard Gary Berbiglia was at least a part owner. Googling him shows that he passed away.
Tequila Harry's is mentioned in that article too. That was opened by an old boss of mine, Danny Kanatzar. Good dude even if he did go to messourah. Wonder if he still owns it.

Friendly suggestion.....
I assume no one on here has any desire to attend the Golden Globes but if you do - you probably shouldn't. What a fucking pain in the ass. I'm at the hotel and at 7:30 this morning I have to deal with getting my "credentials", Covid tested, a room check (my room oversees the red carpet so they will do a security check), many security hassles, etc. The fricking festivities don't begin until 2:00pm. It's going to be a looooong day and evening. Typically they have great after parties but tonight it's only a crappy post party with Anderson Paak DJing.
The only saving grace is the weather is supposed to clear up later.
P.S. No signs allowed but I will write Kansascrimson.com on a piece of paper and hold it up if I know I'm on camera.

I could think of so so so many things i'd rather do than attend the Golden Globes.
Like sit in a completely empty dark room by myself for 4 hours.
Even if the entire trip was completely paid for, first class flight and a 5 star hotel, I'd rather have to watch 8 hours of The Big Bang Theory straight on my living room couch.

AB's has changed hands at least a couple of times. I doubt anything changes other than running the business side a little better.
