Trump/Republicans 2020: Suppressing Votes & Weaponizing the Government.
Re: Trump/Republicans 2020: Suppressing Votes & Weaponizing the Government.
Gum up the USPS and then say that ballots after election day don't count. Pretty sweet strategery.
Defense. Rebounds.
Re: Trump/Republicans 2020: Suppressing Votes & Weaponizing the Government.
More fear mongering.
Re: Trump/Republicans 2020: Suppressing Votes & Weaponizing the Government.
Which is entirely reasonable because the GOP is out there right now trying to discredit (and disregard) timely-mailed ballots.
Re: Trump/Republicans 2020: Suppressing Votes & Weaponizing the Government.
Then why gum up the USPS works right before an election with significantly more mail in ballots?
Defense. Rebounds.
Re: Trump/Republicans 2020: Suppressing Votes & Weaponizing the Government.
Re: Trump/Republicans 2020: Suppressing Votes & Weaponizing the Government.
There are counties in the rust belt that won't start even counting mail in votes until after election day, regardless of when they are received.
Re: Trump/Republicans 2020: Suppressing Votes & Weaponizing the Government.
...and is that the same thing they always do? If so, then everything will be alright just like all of the other election years.

No, it's not.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 4:05 pm...and is that the same thing they always do? If so, then everything will be alright just like all of the other election years.

Re: Trump/Republicans 2020: Suppressing Votes & Weaponizing the Government.
Who really knows if they are counting them?
Why am I supposed to believe this entire election is NOT bullshit and full of fraud?

Re: Trump/Republicans 2020: Suppressing Votes & Weaponizing the Government.
Because many of the people running the elections in various states hate trump? Most of the country can't stand him.
The governor of Pennsylvania is on CNN now. He says if you can't get it mailed in time then just take it to a drop box or election office and then you know it is counted. He is a democrat. He feels pretty confident there isn't fraud going on in his state.
Plus, gasp, the supreme court just ruled in favor of allowing the ballots to be counted in PA (a win for "dems", if you assume all Republicans are against counting votes, which I doubt most are....and more evidence the supreme court isn't beholden to trump).
Re: Trump/Republicans 2020: Suppressing Votes & Weaponizing the Government.
Amy Klobuchar on CNN now. Very cool calm and collected. Said the ruling against it being post marked by election day in MN makes her mad, and blaming the "republican judges", but that it isn't a big deal as long as people are aware of the ruling. Gave numerous ways to get these ballots counted. All she wants to do is make sure everybody is aware of the ruling so they can vote one way or another. Send out the alert to bring it to a drop box, an election office, or vote in person....do not mail it in tomorrow and take the risk it doesn't arrive in time.
She is awesome. No fear mongering. No panic. Just simple solutions. Glad CNN helped her get the word out about the rule change.

Re: Trump/Republicans 2020: Suppressing Votes & Weaponizing the Government.
Forgive me for channeling my inner Lobster but I truly believe there is fraud going on in EACH and EVERY state. Of course to much different degrees but fraud none the less.
Re: Trump/Republicans 2020: Suppressing Votes & Weaponizing the Government.
Sure. A small amount of cases. Any fraud is unacceptable of course. Insignificant in the grand scheme of things most likely. A few thousand cases of voter fraud in the whole country? Maybe less?
Re: Trump/Republicans 2020: Suppressing Votes & Weaponizing the Government.
You said ”I think the votes will be counted similarly to every single other year and by the middle of the night or early morning we will know the results well enough to determine a winner."IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 6:23 pmBut they're counting them, correct?Mjl wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 4:52 pmNo, it's not.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 4:05 pm

I don't think that's the case. Trump will be winning the rust belt the morning of 11/4 imo. They don't pre-process, much less count, the early vote there before election day. And due to one side believing Covid-19 is a threat and the other not, there will be a huge edge in the mail-in vote for Biden.
Re: Trump/Republicans 2020: Suppressing Votes & Weaponizing the Government.
He doesn’t joke, Illy. He is dead-ass serious about his expectations of justices, including the three he appointed.

In case that was too subtle:
Re: Trump/Republicans 2020: Suppressing Votes & Weaponizing the Government.
Sure he is serious. I am totally in agreement with you....but that seriousness means nothing in the end. They don't have to listen to him. They will do what they think is right, not what they think he wants....and most likely he is coming up on less than 2.5 months remaining in office. Vote and hope this nightmare ends soon.
If he gets reelected then Dems should take a long hard look in the mirror about who they are nominating and who they are trying to represent.
Much like i feel the last 4 years have been the slow death of the republican party as we know it, i think the next 4 years (assuming Biden wins) may be the death of the democratic party. Old white guys who say problematic shit and have questionable pasts aren't going to fly anymore. Biden was force fed by the media as the only candidate that could win and that was total BS. So many more better options from both parties (granted way more for the Dems at present time)....
Tbh, i think (maybe it is a hope) the leaders of republican party of the future look like Amy Klobuchar. I think there are a lot of borderline republicans that identify more with her views than the leaders on the right.

You don't want to listen to this point, but: they were chosen not because they will back Trump from, like, a partisan standpoint. They were chosen because they are true believers in far-right orthodoxy. And that, not loyalty to a particular person, is the threat.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Fri Oct 30, 2020 8:38 am Sure he is serious. I hear you....but that's what conservatives do, they pick conservative justices....just like liberals pick liberal justices.jfish26 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 30, 2020 8:47 am You don't want to listen to this point, but: they were chosen not because they will back Trump from, like, a partisan standpoint. Some of it i agree with some of it i don't.
I believe in a womans right to choose.
I also believe in healthcare for all, but not via forcing traditional insurance companies to cover individuals who are high risk or have pre existing conditions. Just like i wouldn't expect life insurance companies to be forced to cover high risk individuals or individuals with pre existing conditions.
Healthcare for all needs to be achieved by some sort of hybrid model. Let healthy people have traditional insurance that was WAY cheaper pre ACA....come up with a government funded healthcare model for those that can't obtain (or don't want to obtain) private insurance do to preexisting consitions/risk factors/financial cost. So that EVERY SINGLE PERSON has access to affordable healthcare.
