Re: Totally random thread
Went to The Comedy Store last night. Expected to see the "headliner" - Whitney Cummings. She was a no-show. Fuck her. Last comedian basically bombed and knew it.
Bobby Lee was good but he tried too hard to channel Robin Williams.
I felt the best comedian BY FAR was a guy named Adam Ray.
Ok, not sure why I felt the need to share that.
Moving on........

not sure if you’d enjoy him (or know of him), but we saw a Chad Daniels show last year and had a blast. i’d recommend him to anyone who enjoys stand-upRainbowsandUnicorns wrote: ↑Fri Jan 13, 2023 9:32 am Went to The Comedy Store last night. Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
Re: Totally random thread
We don't go to comedy shows very often. Last time we did, the "comic" was terrible. Apparently, he's on the bob and tom show all the time as a whiskey tango drunk. He spent his whole act sexually harassing an attractive young lady in the audience. It was way more disturbing than funny. She put up with it and tried to laugh but it was obvious she was more than uncomfortable. I think she was trying not to react and escalate the verbal abuse. As we were leaving, she was up in the manager's face big time. I don't blame her a bit.
Sorry you're having a rough time in LA Gutter. I hope some fun comes your way.

You do know what the odds are of being cold and rainy in LA are….right?RainbowsandUnicorns wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 9:03 amPosted about it in the College Football thread. No doubt nice and "ascetically" pleasing but sorry if this offends you - I feel it is a big waste of 5 billion dollars. Unfortunately the weather sucked so bad that I didn't enjoy walking around the outside of the stadium and to get rained on when you are cold and in a roofed stadium is not a pleasing experience. At all.japhy wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 9:12 amSooooo.....what did you think of SoFi?RainbowsandUnicorns wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 8:29 am Friendly suggestion.....
I assume no one on here has any desire to attend the Golden Globes but if you do - you probably shouldn't. What a fucking pain in the ass. I'm at the hotel and at 7:30 this morning I have to deal with getting my "credentials", Covid tested, a room check (my room oversees the red carpet so they will do a security check), many security hassles, etc. The fricking festivities don't begin until 2:00pm. It's going to be a looooong day and evening. Typically they have great after parties but tonight it's only a crappy post party with Anderson Paak DJing.
The only saving grace is the weather is supposed to clear up later.
P.S. No signs allowed but I will write Kansascrimson.com on a piece of paper and hold it up if I know I'm on camera.

Who would have thought that Missouri of all places would look to take away the right to bare arms?

While one might assume (and be right) it's rare, it's happened 2 out of last 6 times I have attended football games in the LA area. The 2017 Rose Bowl being the other time.Overlander wrote: ↑Fri Jan 13, 2023 2:02 pmYou do know what the odds are of being cold and rainy in LA are….right?RainbowsandUnicorns wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 9:03 amPosted about it in the College Football thread. I'll say it again. I feel when there is a 5 billion dollar stadium WITH A ROOF (ok at least "canopy") - people shouldn't be cold and rained on. That's all. Just one man's opinion.

that’s quite the leap, that rather than feeding themselves, their families, and communities, that early farmers were really just trying to get wasted

Early trade in Mesopotamia/Egypt was absolutely rooted in portions of their shitty beer. Some of it was a good way to get nutrients and drink water that wouldn’t make you sick.
People would literally work for beer.
Not for currency or goods to trade for beer. Just beer.
