But did my post trigger you?
You didn't respond to it, much triggered-ly.
I'd guess -- and correct me if I'm wrong -- that you didn't read the post as religious. Rather, you read it as it was written, using the common/vulgar history as understood by, literally billions of people.
No, your post didn't trigger me.
I did consider a portion of it to be religious but I don't believe that was your primary intent - to make a religious post.

We have been looking at appliances for a new kitchen out in the Empire. We found the smart options on the appliances. After a few minutes we just scratched our heads, why would we need that?
We do have smart thermostats out there, last February a furnace went out the afternoon I drove into town. If I hadn't shown up our plumbing would have been fucked up by the next morning. Now we will get a notice if the temperature drops in the place. We also have smart locks on the door. When the Contractor forgets to lock the door on his way out, we get a notification and we can lock it remotely. In the past the "notification" came in the form of a call from the local police dispatcher letting me know the door was unlocked around 11:30 PM. The police station is at the end of the block and an officer walks through downtown every night checking the dozen or so business doors to see if anyone forgot to lock up every night. It's a weird small town service I did not know existed, I like it. I would have to wake Joaquin up by phone and he would have to drive back to town to lock up. Now if he forgets, we can lock it up by internet.
We are not complete Luddites, but I don't see the point in having the option of checking the temperature of the fridge from KC and our induction cooking hobs will reduce fire hazards.
But as I understand the rules, having smart appliances and turning them on and off remotely would allow me to use a technicality to avoid vacancy taxes. We will talk to our tax accountant about it.

what? I had no idea the different layers of the earth rotated separately. I knew the crust moves, continental drift and whatnot, but I guess I never thought about the actual rotation differing from that of the core.

I have a Wi-Fi enabled thermostat which helps me turn down the heat and back up again a few hours before we return from extended absence. Of course, we don’t have the issue of freezing pipes. I would like my hot water circulating pump to be on Wi-Fi so that I don’t have to go to the garage and turn it on/off when I need it outside of the time set on the mechanical timer. But that is a 0.1% of a first world problem!! I do have a Lucky Goldstar refrigerator and dishwasher which are not connected to the web. My reason is not wanting spam marketing for filters, detergents etc - exactly what the manufacturer wants to do. I don’t think remotely starting the dishwasher makes any sense - it’s just as stupid as having an EJECT button on a VCR remote. You have to go to the VCR anyway to change the tape!

Definition of being Guttered.....
Horse racing in South Africa.
I typically bet exactas and superfectas.
5th race I decided to bet a pick 3 (winners of 3 consecutive races) instead.
Bet a horse that was 16-1 in my pick 3 that won the 5th race.
Had I bet an exacta I would have won. The exacta paid $858 (for a $1) and it would have cost me $11 (12 horses in the race).
Had I bet a superfecta I would have won. The superfecta paid $12,100 (for 10 cents) and it would have cost me $99.
6th race (second leg of my pick 3) I got beat by a head (length of a horse's) head.
In other words, I won $0 - and lost money.

Talk about random:
“An innocent man is dead because he took a bike ride to enjoy a beautiful California day along the beach and he was hit with a car and stabbed to death by someone he apparently never met,” Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer said in a news release. “The murder of a complete stranger in broad daylight for what appears to be absolutely no reason is the stuff of nightmares.”

Who does? Not as bad as a stuck sneeze - to me - but I don't like stuck burps either.
On another note, if anyone doesn't mind non-authentic sneakers I have a suggestion for you.
I have bought pairs of shoes on various sites in which I knew the prices were too good to be true. I assumed the shoes were not authentic being that the prices were so low but they sure look/ed good.
I guess I am sort of a sneaker snob because I won't wear "fake" shoes - even if they are fantastic knock offs.
So twice now I have purchased "fake" shoes and when reaching out to the "marketplaces" that I bought them through - and proving the shoes are fake, I was refunded my money and told to KEEP the shoes.
In other words, I got them for free.
I won't wear them so you might ask why do I care if I got them for free but there are a lot of people who will wear them and I am happy to give them to someone who will enjoy and wear them. I will NEVER give them to someone who will resell them nor will I EVER attempt to resell them. Morally that's horrible.
I feel people who knowingly sell "fake" shoes and represent them as being "real" should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law - whatever law/s there may be.

One number off of winning $5000 on a $2 "investment".

Valentine's Day. Boo!
5 thoughts on Valentine's Day.
1. If you need a specific day to express your love for someone else - and it's (your love) any different than any other day - then you might want to re-evaluate your relationship.
2. My mother and father owned a flower shop. During my HS years I worked there part time and would deliver flowers.
Always nice to have women greet you at their door with smiles on their faces.
That being said, there were several women who I would deliver flowers to that were victims of being cheated on - and I knew it. My guess is some of them knew too - and they didn't care because they were living happily ever after and probably cheating on their husbands. Pffft.
3. My 89 year old mother still gives me (a 56 year old) a card and a present on Valentine's Day. God bless her!
4. 5 years ago I woke up on Valentine's Day and with my significant other's daughter - we woke up my significant other. I gave her jewelry specifically from me, specifically from her daughter, and specifically from both her daughter and I. Two rings and a bracelet. Way over my "budget" but stupid people do stupid things. Later that morning my significant other and I flew to Mexico (HER choice) and stayed at a hotel that was over my budget (HER choice). The things I did to try and make her feel special.
I'm not mad at her today. I'm mad at myself. Well, not really mad. More disappointed. Lesson/s learned.
5. Happy Valentine's Day to all of you!

I randomly got guilt tripped this morning for not bringing chocolates to share in the office, but I’m also weighing whether to post that here or the workplace hookups thread.

Thought I responded to this. I guess not.
2. We had customer's who would have us write things in the cards that made it obvious. They were foolish enough to not care that there was the potential for us to spill the beans. To the best of my knowledge my parents never did but it put them in a bind because it created moral dilemmas. In hindsight, my parents should have probably refused those orders.
3, I agree but there was a time in my life where my mother flat out told me if I fuck up again I'm on my own. I was really pissed off at here but now realize that was what needed to be done at the time - for both of our sakes.
