I know "this" is your thing, but my goodness. You're even having trouble with your own posts. Like are we selling this stuff or are we giving it away? Details matter. Slow down a bit.
this is a very weak argument in semantics, and seems to be offered in a way to move beside the point.

of all the issues I discussed when requested, I just think it's silly for the takeaway to be debating "giving" versus "selling."

but then, I remember the way you guys have already admitted your own willful ignorance in this thread, and it makes a lot more sense.

after thinking about it, I do get the point about revenue. Should have phrased that particular big differently.

good post gutter!

I should have limited my response to something like, gee I wish Biden would stop with all the imperial saber rattling by proxy. Shrug.

I can think of a, uh, 21st century geopolitical history comparison to that sort of oopsie and qualified-but-only-partial walkback, but I don't think you're gonna like it.

Maybe what you should have said in response to Illy was, "But it turned out that the sourcing [for my claims] was inaccurate and wrong and in some cases* misleading. And for that, I am disappointed. And I regret it."

* Powell's explanation included the word "deliberately" here. I do not think you did anything deliberately misleading. I don't think you even did anything especially egregious - I just find it kinda funny that what you did rhymes a little bit, in a silly way, with something you are (not unjustifiably!) highly critical of.

I don’t think think sourcing is an issue here.

Rather, the issue is the “do we have to do this every time” crowd took a report about arms sales to Taiwan and rather disingenuously tried to frame the intent as only go generate revenue, then narrowly cherry-picked my response (to the conspicuous exclusion of all the other points) so as to nitpick “selling” and “giving,” all in a way to avoid the elephant in the room that is more imperial saber-rattling by the Biden administration. You then even went so far as to toss a word salad about the FDA and WIC and NASA.

And, it’s funny you try to lecture me about sourcing and also mention Powell. Cuz bear in mind, it’s you, not me, who is among the posters who so stubbornly maintain it would be inappropriate to question in real-time the same government who perpetrated so many mistakes and lies and propaganda, such as Powell’s explanation.

I see that you have reached the phase of...whatever course it is that you are on...where you cannot even take a winking joke.

Even when that winking joke includes, in a couple different ways, a nod toward you being on the right side of the joke.

Anyway, not one single time have I (nor, as far as I recall, has anyone else) told you anything remotely like, "it would be inappropriate to question in real-time the same government who perpetrated so many mistakes and lies and propaganda."

You seem to wish people would go all rah-rah grunt-grunt warhawk jingoist on you as regarding Russia/Ukraine, but that is not what has happened. At the risk of being called CoyDC, I will just say that the thread is full of examples of what actually has happened.

No.

We pointed out that you didn't appear to understand the article that YOU posted.

Do you think we can't keep track of what is going on here?

You should be embarrassed.

Do you really believe the U.S. sold fighter jet parts and radar just for the revenue?
