It was the defining moment for the debate for me. Stating the obvious; this is why you are standing next to me, not Pence.
Walz is not as polished as the Ivy League venture capitalist "hillbilly". But he doesn't have to be to make that point.

Were you forced to become bilingual or die after the Venezuelan gangs took over the Empire, like they did Aurora, Colorado?
And, is it hard to learn a 2nd language with an AR-15 pointed at your head?
Since we are moving to Aztlán, I feel it is important to assimilate if we wish to be fully accepted into our new community.
Several years ago my daughter and I agreed this was one of our official roadtrip songs when driving thru NM and Southern CO.
There's a tattoo heart
With an arrow through the middle
Of a name that looks like Joe
And a young girl's looking
At her makeup in the mirror
Puts a little gold ring on her toe
I gotta say one, two, three more things before I go on
There's a sharp dressed man
Playing something on a fiddle
In the backyard right next door
And everybody's mother
Is cooking something in the kitchen
Got dishes stacked ceiling to floor
I gotta say one, two, three more things before I go on
You can't run and try to hide away
Here it comes, here comes another day
A red rooster crows
A little Mexican tune
On the chain link fence by the gate
Somebody's daddy's out there
Honkin' on the horn
Hurry up, we're gonna make him late
I gotta say one, two, three more things before I go on
You can't run and try to hide away
Here it comes, here comes another day
If you're long down that highway
No matter where you are
You're never really far
Good morning Aztlán
There's a big fat heart
With an arrow through the middle
Of this place that I call home
And when I get lost
And don't even got a nickel
There's a piece of dirt I call my own
I gotta say one, two, three more things before I go on
You can't run and try to hide away
Here it comes, here comes another day
You can't run to try to hide away
Here it comes, here comes another day
Where you are, never really far away
Good morning Aztlán
I need to finish up a piece I call "Abuelita Marta" for Jezarae's new home. Marta is the rock in the Lobato family and makes great tamales.

Los Lobos, great group, and a great song.
Before he bot and ran the Grand Emporium at 39th & Main in KC, Roger Neighbor promoted music shows, usually but not always blues bands. He would often book the groups into the Lone Star Bar in Westport on weeknights, as the group was crossing the US on it way somewhere else for the upcoming weekend. One Saturday afternoon in '83 shortly after I moved to KC, Los Lobos was on its way from somewhere to Omaha that night, and Neighbor took a chance that even tho the gig would start at 1:00 on a Saturday afternoon, Los Lobos would attract a crowd. And boy, did it ever. The place was packed, the dance floor was hopin', and it was one of the best live shows I ever saw, or got the opportunity to dance to.
I would usually get to the U early on Saturday mornings and get an empty classroom to hole up in and be there until about 10 pm studying, but I made an exception that Saturday, and I've never regretted it.
(I gave up front row balcony seats to see Springsteen in '84 at Kemper Arena because I had a Microbiology final the next morning. I totally bombed the test anyway, and I've always regretted that I never got to see The Boss live.)

Mayor Pete got involved and got the port strike pushed off for 3 months to allow them more time to negotiate. Well, at least are all the hoarders have a 12 month supply of toilet paper.

Ironically paper was not something going through the ports into the country. Rather out of the country. Idiots doing idiotic things.

I am of a mixed mind on the longshoreman’s union strike.
I support legally-protected collective bargaining as a means of seeking level playing fields between management and labor (especially as to matters like compensation, working hours and benefits, and working conditions).
However, my understanding (which is incomplete - I’m happy to be better-educated on this) is that one of the two major issues is the specter of job loss caused by automation.
To me, so long as we are not compromising worker and public safety, it is not good for the economy broadly to shackle innovation and efficiency (that benefits all) for the sake of protecting a couple thousand jobs.
Instead of entrenchment and protectionism, I’d rather see our government and the industry support robust training and creation of new employment opportunities.
I grew up in a longshoring community. We are talking hard working, highly skilled people, who deserve great jobs. I just think we can preserve them AND improve (through innovation) port safety and efficiency.

Just another gay American hero saving our country while raising a family in a committed same sex marriage.
It's good to have family values people running things again.

i'm happy that the strike has been put on hold. i'm guessing mayor pete had no hand in that.

Your guess is based on years and years of denying democrats credit for anything. Science.

Yet, he would be the first person you would blame if it lingered.

No, that’d be Pete’s boss. Or another direct-report of Pete’s boss.

The best $$ I spent was installing a BioBidet contraption on every toilet in the house. The tp mafia can eat their product (or stuff it somewhere) for all I care!!
