I was just fine with his country boy routine. As most KU fans should have been.
His last 2 seasons at KU he was 63-12 and 30-2 in conference. Oh, that and he was in two consecutive Final Fours.
You have a problem with that?

For those who say at least we're not Carolina, I am assuming you mean this seasons and if so, of course I agree.
In my lifetime, Carolina > Kansas. By a fairly large margin.

I think self is probably a better coach and i never understood the Roy hate. I was pissed when he left....but mainly because of the way he left, not because i thought he was a horrible coach. We upgraded with Self and roy went home, soooooo what is there to be mad about?
Self seems to have shown over time he's the better Xs and Os coach.....recruiting they're similarly skilled, but Self seems to go after more high risk kids and we've paid for that at times (not that UNC hasn't had their own off court issues, but we developed a bit of a bad reputation off the court the last 5+ years....

The only thing to be mad about is the 1 title and the Adidas scandal.

When roy left I was sad.....then mad.....then didn't care. I loved Self so much for so long, but the last few years I've started to question some of the antics and placed some of the blame on him for some of our issues on and off the court. Still love the guy and think he's a great coach, but I wonder how much he's got left in the tank and if the drama hasn't taken a toll on his motivation and preparation the last few years.

They’ve both had pretty good careers.

When was the last time KU won the tourney?

UNC?

Which is more important: winning the tournament or making the tournament?

(I totally understand what you're saying, and I agree we haven't had "bad" seasons during the Self era.....but at Kansas the goal isn't to avoid missing the tournament, the goal is to win the tournament)

Obviously winning the tournament is the goal. Obviously it is important. But do not under estimate how awesome our run of sustained excellence is.

You’d be singing a different tune if we missed the tournament.

Sure....but I'd gladly take missing the tournament 1 or 2 years if we had 2 or 3 more national titles...obviously not reality or how it works....we've put ourselves in position as much or more than anyone else to win national titles during the Self era, but haven't gotten in done except in 2008.

I think Roy has been as heavily
involved in paying players (players not going to class) as Bill. The difference is they are protected by Nike and by the ACC love affair of the NCAA. Our failure on that front is not in Bill it is in Adidas.

Just when you thought Sparty was getting it together they kicked their ass kicked by 29 to unranked Purdue.

Kind of shocked Baylor got so many first place votes this week. Didn't jump Gonzaga though. Any idea if Baylor has ever been #1 before?

Maybe it was a different game I watched, but didn't they say #4 is the highest ranking ever for them?

Do you think Nova's Doyel slit his wrists when they were down 21-8?

Nova's Doyel died from choking on crow after the 2nd title in 3 years.

Don't know but what I think is DePaul's Doyel is wondering wtf happened after his was 12-1 and looking like a tournament team to now being 12-5 (0-4 in conference) and looking like they have zero chance to make the tournament.

Duke and Kentucky losing to unranked teams on back to back nights makes me happy. There might be multiple #1 seeds with 7+ losses this year.
