Omaha has a pop. Of over 830k

Whats defined as a big city then?

Seattle proper has a population between those two.....is it not a big city either?
That’s some of the best cherry picking of all-time.

Nah bro, Seattle, Fresno and Omaha are the same. That’s why they all have major sports teams!

Fresno Monsters
Omaha Storm Chasers
Omaha Lancers

Salt Lake City - 200K

Salt lake County/metro - 1.2M

SLC is the “big city”, while the rest of the county is suburbs. the city and county have democratic heads, but the mayors of the ‘burbs are much more diverse (though largely still democratic)

perhaps i’m wrong, but isn’t this situation kinda the norm?

this is what rural folks bitch about, that the big (democratic) cities have a bigger say than those that live in rural areas?

also, it seems reasonable to conclude that crime rates will be higher in larger cities just because they’re larger...more people, more ideologies that are different (and more likely to be conflicting), etc.

I said based on metropolitan population.

So, not according to this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_m ... ical_areas

And, yeah, there aren't that many big cities in the US...so I'd probably bump the cutoff up to 2.5 million, and then there are 24 big cities.

I mean, I don't know what kind of bullshit Lobster is posting about, that guy is ludicrous and doesn't even know the definitions of the words he's posting.

But in terms of cities. You just can't include NYC or LA with places like Omaha or Fresno. I mean, it's hard enough to compare places like Minneapolis or Denver to NYC.

If you want a more inclusive definition of Big city, than I think you need another category to separate out NYC, LA, Chicago, etc. as "Really Big Cities" or something.

29th in Metro and severely hurt by it's proximity to Dallas (4th), Houston (5th) and San Antonio (24th). Does have a Major League Soccer team. Which, even if you don't like soccer, is a professional sports franchise.

The Omaha metro has dozens of cities that each have their own mayor.

The Mayor of Omaha is only responsible for the City of Omaha, which has about a 400K population. So not that big.

God damnit you're a fucking moron.

I asked Lobster to define what was a "big city" and you responded with Omaha and Fresno being comparable to Seattle.

Anyone with half a brain knows when talking about city population, you're almost always referring to Metro populations. If you think 500,000+ constitutes a "Big City", then you think there are roughly 110 "Big Cities" in the USA.

My definition isn't relevant to the conversation, since I was asking Lobster to define his definition. But, if you must know, I would loosely define a "Big City" as anything with a Metro over 2M. Roughly 36 of those in the USA.

But, just keep being a complete dumbfuck on this topic.

SLC is a city, but not a big city (imo). But that's just semantics.

Just try not to gloss over the fact that one of our resident dumbfucks tried to compare Fresno and Omaha to Seattle. And when called out on it just kept doubling and tripling down.
