As long as any member of another group that you don't like has ever done anything negative, it completely absolves you of any blame if you, or a group you favor, also has done said thing. As long as you point out the other group's action rather than ever taking personal responsibility or admitting fault.

For example, Bill Cosby could have avoided jail time altogether, if he'd just pointed out that Jeffery Dahmer was not only a rapist but also a murderer and cannibal. I mean, he mentions Dahmer, and no one remembers the serial rapes he committed.

Let's say Lobster gets caught stealing a car, all he has to do to get out of trouble is point out that some black people have also stolen a car at some other time in history.

Some other ways to get out of blame. Let's say you go get caught red-handed stealing a vehicle. If that vehicle is a Volkswagen, and the person who caught you accuses you of stealing a car, you can just say. I didn't steal a car, I stole a Volkswagen...now that car is yours.

Think about it.

I mean, sure you could involved in a discussion about N95 masks, but if you don't type the letters N95, you can pretend 12 months later that you were talking about halloween masks.
