Did Bill Self ever elaborate on why a kid who was a better than decent Freshman at Cal would come to KU?
Yes, I know Self and Moore used the "closer to home" excuse but there are a whole bunch of other D1 programs "closer to home" than Cal (and KU).

Cuz he’s an undersized shoot first guard who can go for volume at a pac 12 or midmajor but got exposed at a blue blood getting everyone’s best shot every night?

And to think we were expecting him to come in and start...thank the fucking lord for Devon Dotson.

Right.
That's probably the main factor why he left KU but I am still trying to figure out why he left Cal to come to KU - and while it very well may be true, I am just not believing the "closer to home" excuse.

Closer to home was only a concern when it was a matter of appealing to not have to sit out a year to transfer

2020/2021 in a nutshell.

KU now has the longest NCAA streak by 8 years.

Confidence can convince players that they are better than they are. I assume he legit thought he was going to be the next great KU PG. Hats off to him for trying. Sometimes reality has a way of harshly readjusting your opinion of yourself.

I think a big part of it is the fact KU is every other team’s super bowl. We get their best shot every night.

KJ Lawson also averaged double digits at another D1 school but could barely crack the rotation here.

How confident are we that this doesn't get dook in?

Either way, it's a built in excuse now, one that K was angling for all season.

they were bubble already

i haven’t looked, but would imagine they’ve got an outside chance of getting in if others shit the bed

Yeah they were on the outside looking in for sure. Someone will take their spot for sure.

And K is too prideful for NIT. So they're done.

It's what K wanted all along.

I think you all are probably right. I am just having flashbacks of every CBS interview after the selection show with the selection chair trying to explain their mental gymnastics of including an undeserving big name in. Happens so often.

I'd bet money that Duke gets an at-large bid. 13-11 (9-9) isn't worthy, but the selection committee is always run by clowns. Will probably get a 10 seed

dookie is in. Why is this even a discussion?

I hope dook is in our bracket, then K goes full martyr and ends their season on a forfeit.

YES.
This is so very much Duke.

Minimum 5 players is all that's needed, no?
Kansas looses their best player for the tourney - doesn't forfeit.
"It was an unfortunate end to a really weird season, one that I'm not even sure we should have played to begin with. It's out of our hands now. etc etc." - Coach K bullshit.

Didn't K himself say they'd done enough to get in?

They're in. This only makes it easier because they got as far as they'd get in the ACC tourney and now they don't have that additional Loss to deal with.

I think a Florida State blowout would have ended it.
Now they can hope that the Ville win will be enough.
It's the perfect scenario for them - either they get in because they didn't have another loss and the committee thinks, oh well not fair for Duke and coachK, or they don't, and have an excuse why they didn't.
