Well...I'm not sure there's much beyond message board rumors (other than the South Dakota State guy).

I might be too cynical, but my overwhelming thought is that this is all reactionary to things not going hotly on the HS recruiting trail.
So, while PhD's argument makes sense, I don't think this is about the preferable recruiting plan anymore.
which is why, especially at the present time, I'm so opposed to it.
Because I don't like what it means for the state of the program, and I don't want my fears confirmed.
Let's assume you're right.
Is it a "state of the program" that is ongoing and existential? Or is it this year, while we're in the headlines (negatively) and then back to normal?

Which, IMO, is in and of itself telling enough. Guy isn't a grad transfer.

Not a fan, but:
I didn't know that about calculus. That would make recruiting really difficult.

And Jenkins is a good scorer/shooter, but he's been doing it in the Summit league, maybe he's legit, but remember when we all wanted Joe Cremo to come to KU?
Matt Mooney seems to be doing more than alright at Tech. Jenkins is better than Mooney.

I mean, is that true? Pretty wild if so.
I'm just considering the source . . .

Mooney didn't eat a scholarship sitting out

I guess we'll see.
I'm hoping it's temporary and brief.
But then, does it last as long as we're an Adidas school?

I believe it. The UC system master application is no joke.

It was a smartass comment. He was just generally trying to say that UCLA has some additional academic requirements. If they required all athletes to have taken HS calculus then they wouldn't have football and basketball teams.

My Mooney comparison was due to the fact Jenkins' ability was questioned because "he did it in the Summit."

Nice anecdote.

The Summit League is okay. It is a nice one-bid league. It is competitive. Its tournament gets a good attendance.

Also Brookings fucking blows. Gotta question anyone who'd choose to live there.

Have you been to Brookings?

Yes
But it's not necessary to go to brookings to recognize that the big12 is a big jump up in terms of level of play.

1. Then you have to give the kid credit for wanting to get out of Brookings.
2. As I said in my anecdote, if a slower, less athletic, and by all accounts worse player can make the jump from Summit to be an important piece on the Big 12 champion and Final Four team, there's no reason to think Jenkins won't be able to adjust for reasons other than "it's The Summit".
The better question would be can he play PG. He rarely played on the ball in terms of running the offense and distributing. He's a score first, second, third, and pass forth type of player.
