Haven't been to Hymen's but there's always a huge line out front. Seems kinda touristy to me.


Had the best steak of my life at Grill 225. It is in the Market Pavilion Hotel we stayed at and we got vouchers for $50 bucks in food and beverage per day. Didn't really put a dent in the bill that night though. It was after an 8 hour drive from Lex, we checked in and then got a seat. I was all prepared for some seafood when the server said, "all of our steaks are 45 day dry aged prime". I had the 12 oz ribeye with hash browns and a Cab. Jumbo crab app to start.
If the weather is nice, this same hotel has a rooftop bar. Great views, really good food there as well.


For late night bad behavior I like Blind Tiger. There's usually some live music and it's a pretty good dive bar.

Mrs 99 liked the ghost tours. They have some pretty cool ones.

Charleston is on my wife's travel bucket list. I'll go anywhere that has good food if I can ditch my kids.

I visited Charleston about 10 years ago. Super cool old southern coastal town. I asked the hotel lady, hey I’m from KC and a bbq dork, would like to check out some Carolina style, are there any such joints around?

She says, actually yeah, there’s one just a couple blocks up the street!

So I walk up, sit down, drink 6 or 7 beers, and ask for a menu. It reads. “Best KC style bbq in the south!”

Dangit.

It was ok.

I wish I had more advice to offer on what to do there, but that was about all I recall.

Without knowing where to get it, I’d try to find somewhere that serves low country boils and that sorta stuff. Maybe some Carolina stule bbq too.

I read that there are like crab boils and the like this time of year, but would require me to do some digging on places like instagram or eventbrite. Not sure I want to go down that rabbit hole, but sounds intriguing.

Supposed to be in the mid 60's and peak into the 70's. I think that's warm enough for a boat ride.

We did go out to Ft Sumpter. Pretty cool but that will take up most of a day. There's the Yorktown across the river, I'd like to see that.

I'd love to go to an oyster roast but Mrs 99 won't em.

Rodney Scott's is on every "best in Charleston" list. I don't eat a ton of BBQ on the road, but Carolina is probably one of the places I should.

Well, if by MAHRIGHTS you mean the civil war, the fighting actually began along the Kansas/mizzou border.

It was ragtag guerrilla fighting tho, not official soldier fighting, which why the civil war is otherwise said to have begun at Sumter

Oh I well know.
My 11th grade final in American History was about skirmishes in the 1850s to 1860s.

That said, I cant say I'm an expert, as I wrote the paper the day before it was due.
