Kentucky was so close to blowing this. 8 point lead with 2.5 minutes left cut to 2. But Tennessee missed about 100 layups.
8 (or 9) point lead with 2:30 (or 2:12) left and almost blowing it (or ACTUALLY blowing it)?
I just don’t buy that Cal is in any trouble. Would be so foolish to fire him.
I think he does need to get back to some of the things that worked for him at Memphis—his ‘08 team had a lot of good vets. But he’s my second favorite coach by a good margin. Not sure what people don’t see about him. Of course, it’s natural to hate everything about your rivals.

for me, he just comes off as kinda sleezy…almost in a used car salesman sorta way
i agree that uk would be silly to make a change, but uk fans? that’s where all this smoke is coming from

Heard that a lot and respectfully it puzzles me. I think what he says is genuine. Too honest almost to a fault.
He was always right about Duke and K, NIL, and the hypocrisy of the NCAA. No one else would step up and admit it. Or maybe Cal just gave less fucks.

Calipari is from Pittsburgh. All the best used car salesmen come from Pittsburgh.

Seems like Cal needs to evolve his offense (among other things) to fit his personal...he needs to look no further than Bill to see how it's done.
If I'm Kentucky and I'm seriously looking at the possibility of moving on from Cal, I'm doing my homework right now on a handful of coaches, including Jerome Tang.

I have no personal enmity toward Cal, but I think his whole approach right now is wrong. You just can’t hope for skill any more. You have to go get it. And he hasn’t tended that side of the garden for too long now.

Cal may be truthful, but as such, he inspires no loyalty. He is honestly a selfish man. Blaming others comes easily for him. He is usually right, but wars are started for less.

Very, very wrong about this. Was so generous to a personal friend when a lot of people would have done way less. This comment would honestly have her seething.

A lot of bad roster management or bad luck depending on the way you look at it. Shaedon Sharpe type stuff happens too often to him.
Granted this season has a lot left to it, but they’re talented but haven’t done much with it. Oscar was a big get for him but I’m not sure what they are running around him.

If anything, he should be more Self-ish

He’s a slime ball.

I think it was mentioned in the game thread, but, man, yea, could you imagine what Self would do with a guy like Oscar?
A good coach shouldn’t have to depend on whether the Shaedon Sharpe types actually end up playing.
And shit, you’ve got a reigning POY. Figure out how to use him!
(And for real how often does the reigning POY return?!)

I think we’ve seen what Self would do with a guy like Oscar (hint: that guy ended up playing against Cal in a title game).

I don’t think he’s a slime ball. He was just willing to say the quiet part loud.
