I think a problem could be that there is too much an emphasis on making it exactly like the Men’s tourney. Instead of having 8 pods in the first round, why not have 4? The venues can certainly handle it considering they have 2 off days built in when they don’t get that for the conference tourneys.

Better ticket sales, atmosphere, and for travel not having to go to these small college towns.
What ESPN cares about of course has nothing to do with where the games are (except that games without fans are, um, not great).

Just saying the money is there. NCAA has a big TV contract, not to mention the member institutions have billions of dollars of athletic revenue.

It seems to be about a money saving issue. Make the best teams play host in exchange for home court. The sport has maybe evolved past that.

I suspect what’s happening is that cities/venues have realized that hosting is a huge money loser and that the soft benefits are (and have always ALWAYS been) grossly overstated.

I think that’s why you shrink the amount of cities and expand the size of the event at each pod. Much smaller events are being hosted in cities, they just last all weekend. Maybe have permanent pod locations in each region.

Really hope Michigan State wins this game. K is such an insufferable douchebag

Me too, obviously.

But. I was really hoping Davidson, a mid-major, would be the one to take them out, and I think they certainly could have. In state, so has a chip on their shoulder. Venue fairly close to Davidson. Would have been a great crowd.

The only title game outcome that would truly devastate me would be Duke over KU. I might give up on the sport before swallowing being the henchmen in that highlight for the rest of recorded goddamn history.

NPR had a bit on dook this morning, and how K commented that he thinks his team is loosing at home to unranked UNC and in the conference tournament cuz they were focusing too much on the K attention fest instead of the game.

Of course K then expressed, with zero irony or awareness, that he has no idea why K’s team might be too focused on K.

He then promptly ended the interview to get back to his usual schedule of spending the day googling his own name.

I was and still am very skeptical about the Hubert Davis hire, but a Sweet 16 in the first round is objectively a good start.

Baylor getting worked.
UNC shooting lights out.
I ain't got Baylor in any of my 3 brackets and have UNC over them in my main one.

I hope the B12 goes 4-2--go ISU, Tech, TCU and KU.

TCU would need a no complete no show from Zona but if they can dominate the boards and junk it up, I can see the upset.

Genius coaching move by Scott Drew there.
1.Coach your player to take a flagrant elbow
2. Hot hand for Carolina gets ejected
3. Baylor actually starts playing D

High level stuff
