I don't think we are disagreeing with each other.twocoach wrote: ↑Tue Apr 26, 2022 10:21 amNo one was leaving the school where they were Big 12 Freshman of the Year to go to a smaller brand school.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Tue Apr 26, 2022 10:19 amDefinitely some truth to that, but most of those programs are also big brands. Plus, the context here is today.

Re: Transfer portal 2022
yep.
now it's a list of schools with alums that are a bottomless pit of cash to toss around to assemble the best team money can buy.
but to be fair, every power 5 school + aac + big east has the alums to build the best teams money can buy. so the bidding wars are going to be fantastic.

Re: Transfer portal 2022
Recruiting is a bidding war. Always has been.
For decades programs have used tangible benefits, sham classes, dirty money, trips, partying, even hookers in that war.
But people are angry now. Just really mad this above the table money is going to talent. Incensed.

"Hey, it's always been like this, there's nothing we can do, get over it."
Re: Transfer portal 2022
if JW or DMac was smart, they would toss their name into the transfer portal. they would make more money next season in the portal than they will going pro.

If DMac can get a big payday for transferring, he should do it.
Good for him

Re: Transfer portal 2022
I think everyone on this board should pony up $500 so we can ink a player. kcrim neck tattoo
Re: Transfer portal 2022
What are you going to do when a player you really like stays through graduation (maybe with two degrees!), walks through the Campanile and down the hill and pictures with momma and Bill and so on, campus legend and so on, face of the program and so on, because of NIL?
Re: Transfer portal 2022
I think everyone on this board who is complaining about free labor who hasn't pony'd up to pay for hosting costs ( cough cough two of the three posters above this comment ) should do that first.

i know exactly what's going on.
and it's fun for me watching you flail about trying to convince that it is something other than what we know it really is.
may they reign it in and get some law and order. they may. but for now we have the wild wild west.

"Ok, here's how."
"No, not like that!"

I may make CnB, Cascadia and JFish fill out surveys before posting.
I gotta make money somehow. It's just the way it is. And they'll like it. It'll just be the fabric of KCrim.
And if they don't, well, we knew what their problem was all along, amiright?

For all the hemming and hawing over the 'purity' of the sport, I really believe the quality of play over the next 5-10 years will be greatly improved. Simply due to the shear number of really, really good collegiate upperclassmen staying in school. It helped us this year; will most likely help UNC and UK next year.

Didn't see your edit. Agree on this.
This is Iowa State fans needing some validation in their belief that KU is not a remarkably better place for an aspiring NBA player and current college basketball player.
Same with Carrington Harrison saying all season long that college basketball is doomed and then really picking up that narrative after KU won the title and Jay Wright retired.

I agree.kubowler99 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 26, 2022 10:38 am For all the hemming and hawing over the 'purity' of the sport, I really believe the quality of play over the next 5-10 years will be greatly improved. But the NBA has an exponentially better quality of play.
If quality of play is what I was after, I wouldn't watch KU.

Suddenly, everyone wants to stay in school and high schoolers want no part of G League Ignite or New Zealand.kubowler99 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 26, 2022 10:38 am For all the hemming and hawing over the 'purity' of the sport, I really believe the quality of play over the next 5-10 years will be greatly improved.
