whoa, Greta going full Qusdahl. It was prob just a matter of time.
And I know I'm biased, but from my point of view, everything she says is entirely too accurate. Uncomfortably too accurate.
If anyone sees it otherwise, I'd be pleased to hear your take as part of a civil dialogue.

Because non-Capitalist countries historically have been so good about taking care of the environment...

re: the article, 5 questions of the day!
1. How much of climate change can be directly attributed to capitalism?
2. In what ways could colonial imperialism be oppressive and/or genocidal? By the aforementioned "Global North"
3. if economic growth shall indeed be our only priority, and we otherwise really are gonna double down on incumbent systems, then how do we make the combatting of climate change more appealing to the free market?
4. multi-part question, cuz we need to dissect this entire paragraph:
Michael Shellenberger, an American author, posted on Twitter that the “whole capitalist system” Ms Thunberg referred to has led to larger food surpluses than at any point in history, average human life expectancy to rise from 30 to 70 and a drop in total deaths from natural disasters.
a. if the "whole capitalist system" indeed should be credited with larger food surpluses than at any point in history, then how is global food insecurity an enormous issue?
b. how much is capitalism directly to credit for the rise in a average life expectancy, anyway? Would it have not happened otherwise? And how do we compare and contrast that with, for instance, how China experienced a similar rise in life expectancy after they went commie?
c. how exactly did we measure "a drop in total deaths from natural disasters?" cuz that seems like a big statement, especially in the context of climate change
d. is this the same Michael Shellenberger who wrote such bestselling books as, "Apocalypse Never: Why Environmental Alarmism Hurts Us All," and "Break Through: Why We Can't Leave Saving The Planet To Environmentalists," and says things like homelessness and drug addiction and mental illness are all consequences of progressivism? (for real I'd at least be curious to see how this dood would answer question 3)
5. if - and this is a big ol' devil's advocate downer pity-size if! - but if Greta is right, and we really do need some systemic reset if this civilization is gonna survive, then how do we make that thought more appealing to the average folks - working class folks, temporarily embarrassed millionaire folks, folks at the mall in Michigan, etc. ?
bonus question: how big do you think the CIA's file is on Greta?

I don't think fix is to ditch capitalism. It's just that capitalism has become such a short sighted "make as much money as quickly as possible damn the consequences" venture that the failure to factor environmental impacts into their equation is costing many businesses more money in the long run. Companies take the MICH approach of "well, it doesn't directly affect me personally (while simultaneously being bummed that they developed asthma and skin cancer and their grocery bill is sky high thanks to shortages of water and too-high temperatures) so fuck the people that come after me".

Your post from nearly 3 years ago:
"Time person of the year is a meaningless honor or dishonor. Depending on how you look at it.
Go to the mall right now and ask 10 folks who just won time magazine poy. 9 won’t know. 9 won’t care. Then ask them who Greta tuneburg is. 9 won’t know. 9 won’t care."

So if you don’t think the fix is to ditch capitalism, then is the fix otherwise some sorta doubling down on capitalism instead?
And if so, then how do we get capitalism to stop doubling down on the short-sighted Mich approach?

https://www.foxnews.com/us/mississippi- ... -shipwreck#
"Conditions have sent water lines receding to near-record levels on the Mississippi River. "
...
"Critical ship and barge traffic for the agriculture industry has been disrupted.
The river moves more than half of all U.S. grain exports, but industry estimates cited by the federal government show the drought has reduced the flow of goods by about 45%."
So we have clear, direct impacts to the US consumer as the movement of goods and foods in our nation are negatively impacted but some people still keep voting against any efforts to change things. Willful ignorance.

You sure seem to care, as evidenced by you digging up a post from 3yrs ago to argue with a person who clearly trolls you (almost daily, on various subjects).
And then posted a foxnews article to try to prove a point.
