No one knows more about containing viruses than Donald J Trump.

Believe him.

China is swiftly building a 1,000-bed hospital dedicated to patients infected with a new virus that has killed 26 people, sickened hundreds and prompted unprecedented lockdowns of cities during the country’s most important holiday.

On the eve of the Lunar New Year, transportation was shut down Friday in at least 10 cities with a total of about 33 million people. The cities are Wuhan, where the illness has been concentrated, and nine of its neighbors in central China’s Hubei province.

Lots of "mays" right now.

The important thing is that at least we can trust the Chinese government.

Is it suspected the US also has covert biowarfare programs?

I ask, because obviously it's very concerning if China does...but if we also do it, then that would be problematic as well.

and...

i’m not saying it didn’t escape from a chinese viral lab, but given the “behavior” of closely related viruses and the pattern of initial outbreak (if reports are correct), i think it’s more likely that this is a natural occurrence brought about by unsanitary conditions in food markets

And I'm not saying it did. Just noting the coincidence.

The thing thats odd about this to me is the response. It must be worse than i have been told. I dont remember the strict travel restrictions, and panicky (dont mean this is a bad way, just cant think of the right word) type feeling from authoroties with fairly small casualty numbers, and fairly small spreading capability (think i saw it was a 1.4-2.5.....common cold is 3) on similar type outbreaks of SARS, bird flu, swine flu etc

Hmmmm….a communist country not coming forward with the hard facts that could impact millions?

Sounds vaguely familiar.

unless it’s a cover-up, as DC’s link would seem to indicate, the hard facts should be forthcoming

whether or not they’ll be trustworthy is an entirely different question

the market/s where this outbreak has been reported as potential “ground zero” need to be sampled, including all species of animal that were being sold there, and the sellers need to be interview as to the provenance of those animals. it takes time just to do the sampling and interviews, then add to that the lab work to genetically sequence the samples...the actual analyses probably only take minutes to hours

hopefully this all happens, or is happening, and is done so under international supervision/expertise

Except the market that is currently considered as ground zero has already been closed down, wiped clean and bleached off the face of the earth prior to any sampling being done. Or so i read. I'll try to find that link again

Whens the last time we did this?

Would lead me to believe it's worse than has been reported.
