That list strikes me as perhaps the dudes with the combo of most talent and most coachability. (e.g. Self made comments about how Joel was a sponge who absorbed coaching as quick as anyone he'd seen)

and yeah, the Collins pick kinda seems sentimental, considering you'd think that it would count as coachability, in a sense, for a player to be receptive to coaches and trainers saying "ixnay on the ick-fil-a-chay"

Yes. I think that pick is wistful on Self's part, in the "what could have been" category.

I wonder if he'd still pick that lineup if it was framed more so as "pick 5 guys you gotta make a tournament run with."
