According to Mike Freeman, longtime NFL writer, coaches and executives are supremely confident that Kansas City will "win big" and Freeman is shocked by how confident they are.
The difference is 15. Play him zone and he will pick you apart. Play man they will run right by you. Now his legs can beat you. He is the equalizer.

Interesting juxtaposition of SF in 1990 versus an Elway lite Denver 1990s. Just can’t escape Denver until the last Shanahan falls.

Back when Denver was plugging in running backs, Schottenheimer had world class defenses that mostly held their own until the end when passes unraveled it in the 4th Quarter. Hoping the KC offense makes it meaningless.

Only problem with this is that the 49ers averaged more points than the Chiefs per game on offense as well as allowing less points than the Chiefs on Defense.
Problem with that is the 49ers don’t have 15.

Agreed. He's one of the smartest QBs in the league on top of being the most talented QB. He makes such a big difference even if the rest of the team isn't on their game, he always seems to be.
It's going to be wild to watch my Kansas City Chiefs play in the Super Bowl multiple times, and it'll mostly be because 15 has the Arrowhead on his helmet.

The Chiefs are 27-8 in his starts, and have never lost by more than a score.
He'll have a clunker at some point...but he really hasn't yet. It's absurd.

It really is absurd, Fish. If any D can figure it out, it’s the #1 D though, right?

That's the truly amazing part. He never has his team out of it.
But you're right, at some point when the weapons aren't as good, he'll have a game where he's 50% and 1 TD and 4 INTs and the team loses by 20.
But it's hard to say when and if it'll even be that bad.
Bit of a tangent here, but I like to listen to Terez Paylor's podcast that he does with Charles Robinson (Both Yahoo guys) Terez has a Hall of Fame vote and he uses an algorithm to help him make his selections. It's not his be all, end all, but it's a good measuring stick to help him base his decisions. It accounts stats compared to peers in same era, Pro Bowls, All-Pro, MVPs, Super Bowl MVPs, OROY, DROY, etc. Basically personal accomplishments.
Mahomes already has a higher score in his algorithm than Eli Manning did. That is absolutely absurd. Eli Manning is a borderline Hall of Famer, and Mahomes is already better than him (According to that algorithm) in just his 2nd full year.
We are witnessing possibly the greatest QB that has ever played this position. And he'll be with KC forever and it's been a long damn time.

Big stage, big worries. I think Mahomes will feel comfortable enough that nerves are not the issue. But San Fran poses problems.

I mean, NE is #1 according to advanced stats. But San Fran is #2, so close enough.
You'd say the playoffs are the best of the best right? Mahomes is passing at a 63% clip, has 11 passing TDs and 0 INTs and 125 yards rushing with 2 TDs.
NE had a top defense last year. Shut Mahomes out in the first half of last year's AFCCG. He then proceeded to score 31 points in the half and helped the team comeback and took the lead in the 4th quarter, twice.
You can only contain him for so long before he busts out and does something that is remarkable.

As an outsider looking in now, I’m not betting against either side.

Not an easy head to head bet; but I would take the over.

I mean, I've never got to bet for the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, so I definitely will. Just don't know what I will do O/U, etc or how much I'll go.
But I feel like the Chiefs will remain around a 1-2 point favorite. But I'll take the Chiefs to cover and I'll take over 54 as of right now.

Yeah, I think I might hammer the over. Gonna be like 70 and clearer weather. Might be a track meet.
And if it's that, I like my chances on Chiefs even more.

SF will play defense with their offense. Over 54 sounds high.
But, as I've said in this thread, it's hard to bet against Mahomes.
This matchup to me is best team vs. best player.

I think the key to the O/U is...KC's defense, and how the game starts. The Chiefs have shown not just a willingness, but a desire and an ability to play offense slowly
and efficiently. If the Chiefs play the game from the front, I could see a low-key throttling like 27-16 being very much in play.
If it's close (or the Chiefs are playing from behind), you'll get everything the Reid/Mahomes combo has got, and it could easily turn into a game in whatever segment of 10s (30s, 40s, 50s, etc.) SF can push it into.

I thought the Rams game last year would be in the 30s for both teams; this one feels like an undercount again to me.

Something of note.
Chiefs and 49ers played each other in 3rd preseason game. That's the game where starters play more than a series or whatever. Mahomes had 2 drives. Was 8/10 and 188 yards and a TD. Did that in 15 snaps.
I understand preseason doesn't mean shit, but the starters played the most they have up to that point for both sides and Mahomes didn't have much if any trouble. 10 points in his 2 drives.
