You can’t call yourself an ethical person or an environmentalist and live in Southwest US

Spring has a sense of growth and rebirth and hope, but I’d pick that one.

The difference between a warm spring day and a warm fall day, is that warm spring days are just a tease. Fall warm days are a bonus.

And that’s a good point about March madness, but I already gave up every sport besides KUBB, so you can’t take that away from me now

Palm Springs California. 340 days of sunshine, 10 days of heavy rains, mild to hot temps.
Heaven for this guy.
And, you have real mountains in spitting distance.

That said, Palm Springs, Vegas and Phoenix/Scottsdale are really, really icky, ethically-speaking. By the time I'm of age for that sort of thing, it'll be even worse.
Ethically speaking?
Do you hate gays? Or retirees? Wealthy people?

The wife and I are headed out to Oro Valley and Catalina Foothills Az in March to look at properties.
My room mate from KU lives in Tucson. Good dude and he says that he would live anywhere else.

Love all of em.

What I don't love is flying into those places, looking down, and considering how exactly it is that there are these sprawling, emerald patches dotting the brown.

Got ya. BTW, I knew you aren't an a-hole, at least on this topic.

Also, the Coachella Valley is actually on one of the largest single aquifers in the US.

Are you suggesting that we let those golf courses dry up?
*Edit fun fact-Home to nearly 125 golf courses, the area presents no shortage of choice public plays across the 45-mile stretch of desert floor and mountain surrounds.

uh, yeah

i’ve commented on this before, but...

as a grad student i spent some time at the UC Boyd Deep Canyon research station, right south of Palm Desert

getting to the station requires driving through a gated community and a couple of private golf courses. the contrast between the urban development and natural environment was hilariously stark

you could never convince me that humans have any business having golf courses or green lawns in that environment

That's one. Might I also suggest:

Jerking off outdoors with no worries about getting caught.

Ingesting peyote and wandering around vomiting for a few hours while you try to hide from God.

Dodging a diamondback only to fall back onto a Jumping Cholla cactus. Then as you run away screaming in pain, you are trying to remember where that fucking snake was.

Staring at your Jeeps fuel gauge at 1/8th and calculating how far you are (or might be) from an OPERATIONAL gas pump.
