That is probably a good question. He has some verbal decline too, i wonder what the combination of lesser presenile dementia and Asperger’s nets you? Some memorable dissociative off color quotes I wager

I visit an SEC board. The consensus is that with his hat on, he tries to coach football and eat grass (KU needs to go back to grass).

Without his hat, he is a used car salesman rolling back the odometer and trying to bang the daughter of a single mother.

That is exactly what I want in a coach.

KANSAS FOOTBALL!

How he coached for 3 more years and how Long had zero knowledge of this is mind blowing.

I think Long and Miles are gone by Friday. Classic Friday news dump.

And KU Athletics caught with their pants down. Again. I’m not sure how many kicks they can take. It is one blunder after another with them.

After reading that retracted document the only thing I see Les being guilty of is cheating on his wife and being an absolute creep.
This isn’t great at all but this also happened 10 years ago. IMO as long as this behavior isn’t still going on he probably skates by. I do know him and Long are on absolute thin ice right now.

Yeah I probably overreacted on first glance. But it was 8 years ago. And for all we know, could have been an eye opener for him. And could have stopped completely.

And I get why KU didn't have access to it, but to have zero knowledge of it seems odd.

There were reasons (plural) why LSU fired him and why he didn't get many (if any) GOOD job offers after he was fired.
Yet, here comes KU doing KU things and hiring a "name" to try and revive a dying program.
How's that working out for us? Fool me once..... See Chuck Weis? You would have thought we had learned a lesson the hard way with him.
The optimists will say - give Les some more time. The team showed improvement and he's brining in quality players.
The pessimists will say - He's 3-18 / 1-16 coming off of an 0-9 / 0-8 season. He and the team are garbage.
I say - The team can't get any worse so of course they can and should improve next season and beyond but come on, Les Miles is probably not the best man we could have right now coaching KU Football.

P.S. I am curious, does anyone know when Les became such a devout Christian? I know the man has been spewing hypocritical religious bullshit since at least 2011.
Then again, maybe I should cut him some slack being that a college coach often entails pretending you care about things you really don't care about and caring about things you have to pretend you don't really care about.

At this point, you try to hang on, and let him have four years.
In his fourth year, if we're still struggling to beat our non con opponents, and getting blown out 47-7 and 62-9, it was a another complete failure.

I guess it depends on definition of KU Football failure.

The only thing I looked for in this hire was rebuilding a program the right way, with the right people and the right recruits. That part has been outstanding. And I said early on, you just can't judge results for Miles until year 4. But if he doesn't produce results by year 4, then you look around and try to bring someone on.

But because the program will be built correctly, with high schoolers in the program, it will be a more attractive opening than what it was in 2018 when Les was hired.

And I determine that a somewhat successful hire.

If it's year 4, and you're 2-10, and get blown out v OU by 50, I guess it's not a 'complete' failure, bc that would be like folding the program, but it's pretty damn close.

Yeah I agree. Would not be a good look.

He has to succeed somewhat in year 4.

Hell, you have a season like Mangino in 04 where you were a blown call away from beating Texas and in every loss but on the road to the no. 2 team, but have a loosing record, that's a win in my book.

That's something to work with.

I've been just as vocal as anyone that last year was a step back, at least on field wise but for a struggling program wiping out spring and summer on field reps then having another year of revolving QBs last years dumpster fire was already in motion before it even started.

Les, has done some tremendous things behind the scenes that NO previous coach and athletic administrators have been able to (or even try) at least attempt to bring some sort of legitimacy to the football program. It cannot be understated that he is building the program with high school kids and despite the awful performance on field still managed to secure a top 50 (i believe) recruiting class in the middle of a pandemic.

Now if KU goes winless again and looks just as bad or worse as last year then he, and Long will firmly be on the hot seat if both not fired.

I think this is my biggest point. He's doing great things behind the scenes to get KU competitive on the field. That part is just lacking right now, but that will come as long as they continue to do the longer rebuild and not the quick rebuilds that Weis and Beaty tried.

Landing a top 50 class after THAT season in a pandemic is nothing short of incredible.

On field success will show because of this, just don't know if Les will reap the rewards of his hard work or if it will be a different coach.

Can Les focus and be effective now? I don’t care about the pompous ass he was 8 years ago. We humble everyone in KU FB. Can Les use the opportunity to work his way out of purgatory? I support him if so. Otherwise? Next anguished soul.

Helps that this happens in spring. They will start spring ball soon. Can ease into it a bit. Not a demanding time of practice, but a good time to get focused and get right for him.

But as stated, the next 2 years are extremely important for Les. Have to be competitive. Just have to be.

In other somewhat related news, LSU has suspended some assistant ADs based on report that was released today. The company doing the report said that LSU has never staffed their departments properly for Title IX.

Biggest thing of note, noted in report. "Errors that we see in athletic cases also pop up in non-athletic cases. The answer to 'Are athletes being treated differently at LSU?' The answer is no."

LSU had more shit going on than just the athletic department
