There's a little beach walkable from where we hang out around the 4th.
Only recently have signs needed to go up to remind people to keep the beach clean and pack up their trash.
It didn't work. The beach yesterday morning had empties and leftover boxes/canisters of fireworks.

Fuck those people.

Shitcago used to have a HUGE 4th of July celebration on the THIRD of July. Typically an estimated 1 million or so people along the lake.
That ended years ago because the assholes behaved like assholes and needed to shoot people at the celebration - in consecutive years. City put a kibosh on that.
Anyways, my dilemma tonight is do I go up to the rooftop to watch the Navy Pier fireworks where it will be overcrowded with an abundance of young drunk disrespectful assholes, or do I go to Navy Pier with probably 250,000 to 500,000 people in the area - at the risk of my getting stabbed, shot, or trampled when I leave?

At the moment my decision is..... I will choose neither.
From my apartment, I have a great view of a lot of neighborhood fireworks shows as well as all the individuals/residents who blow off fireworks to the north and west.
What I don't look forward to is the assholes who feel the need to blow off "explosives" all night long.
Oh well, I know I am a crotchety old man and I need to realize it's only for a few days.

I am sitting in my open garage, waiting for the cleaning lady to finish the initial clean of my new home in Vancouver.

78 degrees, cloudless blue skies, ice cold Corona.

Been busy loading up the Gladiator for a run up the hills in the morning.

Life is pretty fucking good in Overlander-Land.
