Henry had 31 vs. LaSalle so that 27 in his debut wasn't his career high.
Does anyone research anything they say any more?

excuse me. (am I thinking of some other stud who scored their career high in their freshman debut?)
I am a firm believer in the theory that a team takes on the mentality of their leader so some guys going on cruise control at times and under performing that season seems to line up with my theory. That's why I am so happy this team has McCullar as their senior leader. He doesn't strike me as a guy who is going to accept anyone on cruise control.ousdahl wrote: ↑Tue Nov 08, 2022 10:08 amexcuse me. I forgot about the Lasalle game tho. 31, nice.
But that came in early December.
After researching, I'm afraid the point still stands about seeming like he was on cruise control for much of the rest of the year. He had a stretch in conference play in which he scored in the single digits for 5 games straight, and scored single digits in 3 of his last 6 games at KU, including a whopping 8 points against Northern Iowa.
But I dunno if that team's biggest flaw was X's apparent cruise control, or Sherron getting to play the all-U-can-eat hero ball.
last year wasn't far off...18ppg, 14, 11, 10.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Tue Nov 08, 2022 10:22 am Different teams, different styles of play back then. 2010 team nearly 82 ppg with the high scorer being 15 ppg. 2008 was 81 ppg with the high scorer being 13 ppg.
That kind of balance is rare, now, unless you look at some of our bad offensive teams (2015, 2021).
I don't want to get in to too much of a statistical analysis argument, but to me, the difference between 18 and 15 is quite significant, especially when the 18 was on a team that averaged 78 ppg. Granted, the tournament was different given Remy's emergence.TDub wrote: ↑Tue Nov 08, 2022 10:27 amlast year wasn't far off...18ppg, 14, 11, 10.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Tue Nov 08, 2022 10:22 am Different teams, different styles of play back then. 2010 team nearly 82 ppg with the high scorer being 15 ppg. 2008 was 81 ppg with the high scorer being 13 ppg.

Yes. And no. Dick, Wilson, and mccullar are the 3 best players. I think we can already assume that, and that all 3 are gonna be good. We know what we are getting from dajuan, and KJ.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Tue Nov 08, 2022 10:43 am More on topic:
Is Gradey the key to the season?
17 ppg, and we're a legit F4 contender.
13 ppg, and we're like 2nd-4th in the Big 12.
A nod to Jalen, here, as his development also means a lot. The 5 spot, too. So much riding on Gradey's offense, though.
geography bias?CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Tue Nov 08, 2022 10:33 amI don't want to get in to too much of a statistical analysis argument, but to me, the difference between 18 and 15 is quite significant, especially when the 18 was on a team that averaged 78 ppg. On a less argumentative note, and to MICH's point, if you want to consider the great KU players of the Self era, Och might have competition for that spot, but no one has a better argument.
i’d even go more specific and say his outside shooting is what’s so important, given the apparent lack of that ability across the rest of the rosterCrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Tue Nov 08, 2022 10:43 am More on topic:

No geography bias. Mason in the competition, but it's not a better argument than finishing 2nd in NPOY and winning F4 MOP (which we know what that means for the team). Och played 4 years. Has the story--I am assuming here that "great" means there is room for subjective factors. Mason's senior season was statistically great and has the individual hardware. Och bests him pretty much everywhere else.KUTradition wrote: ↑Tue Nov 08, 2022 11:02 amgeography bias?CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Tue Nov 08, 2022 10:33 amI don't want to get in to too much of a statistical analysis argument, but to me, the difference between 18 and 15 is quite significant, especially when the 18 was on a team that averaged 78 ppg. i’d say BIFM might have the strongest argument
fine, but 4 guys averaging double digits over the course of a seasonis pretty balanced.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Tue Nov 08, 2022 10:33 amI don't want to get in to too much of a statistical analysis argument, but to me, the difference between 18 and 15 is quite significant, especially when the 18 was on a team that averaged 78 ppg.
