HASH BROWNS >>>>>>>>>>> home fries.
LOL, the article about it closing mentions your type specifically. Middle-age crowd all week, millenials on Saturday Night, Sunday morning.
That's the problem, they're nearly always undercooked, and almost never crispy.Back2Lawrence wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2024 4:11 pm I have rarely been to a place that actually makes "home fries" crispy
Its that fine line of crispy and incinerated...while not being cold chunks of potato.Back2Lawrence wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2024 4:11 pm I have rarely been to a place that actually makes "home fries" crispy
Conversely, hash browns can often be flat hard discs of what used to be a potato...or a greasy slab of potato mush.Shirley wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2024 4:21 pmThat's the problem, they're nearly always undercooked, and almost never crispy.Back2Lawrence wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2024 4:11 pm I have rarely been to a place that actually makes "home fries" crispy
Hashed browns, on the other hand, have much more surface area and are usually crispy.
That's true, it happens.Overlander wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2024 5:08 pmConversely, hash browns can often be flat hard discs of what used to be a potato...or a greasy slab of potato mush.Shirley wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2024 4:21 pmThat's the problem, they're nearly always undercooked, and almost never crispy.Back2Lawrence wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2024 4:11 pm I have rarely been to a place that actually makes "home fries" crispy

potatoes o'brien are pretty damn good as part of a breakfast.Shirley wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2024 5:26 pmThat's true, it happens.Overlander wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2024 5:08 pmConversely, hash browns can often be flat hard discs of what used to be a potato...or a greasy slab of potato mush.
Full Disclosure: Potatoes barely make my top 5 of what a good breakfast includes.
Bacon
Eggs
Biscuits & Gravy
Pancakes
Potatoes
And, if there's no biscuits & gravy, then toast made with a hearty bread would come before potatoes.
i hope it’s as good as it used to beOverlander wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2024 11:03 amGoing to Sedona in May, definitely gonna try this spot!KUTradition wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2024 8:18 pm Flagstaff:

another couple spots you might find yourself moseying by: the Elkhorn Cafe, just outside of Chama, NM, and the Roadrunner Cafe between Espanola and Santa Fe
Elkhorn might have the best juevos rancheros i’ve had, and Roadrunner has phenomenal sopapillas
