Cool pics gutter, is that from your apartment or condo? It's been so freaking muggy here in KC, it's sucks just going out to do simple things. I mowed my front yard this morning around 9:30, and my shirt was completely soaked, and it's a 15 minute job. I need to order some midriff mesh shirts...lol
Yes, from my apartment.
I do NOT do well in humidity. Sorry to hear it's been bad in the KC area.
Rain was welcomed by me because it cooled things off. Thought we were done around 7:00am. I had to run an errand and at 10:30 I got caught in an unexpected major downpour. Speaking of shirts, I might have won a wet t-shirt contest.

So you just sat at your window taking dozens if not hundreds of photos trying to catch the lightning?

Stood. For about 10 minutes. Took about 20 pics. Waited for and then most caught the lightning.
One of these days I will learn how to use my cameras (non iPhone) to the best of their abilities and get some really good photos.
There is a great public group on Facebook called Pictures of Chicago. Some amazing photographs.
I have posted ONE photo to the group page. Got over 1,000 "likes". If I can find it I will share it on here.
Found it.

I don't believe that ( that you got 5-6 lightning pics by standing waiting for the lightning and only taking 20 shots ) but that's fine.
What do I know?

I swear on my mother's life.
There have been times (mostly at night) where/when I have been a lot less successful.
On a weather related note, I have an old friend who is a little bit nuts. "Professional" symphony musician (French Horn) and an avid sailor.
He posted this today.....
Great ride up the Lake on the Farr 40 Bandit. First time racing the Hook for the Bandit and her crew. 3rd to finish and unofficial 1st in section. Two storms with sustained winds over 40 knots, 2 blown kites, and lots of carnage across the fleet.
To give you an idea of how/why I think he's nuts, here are a few other pics from other times he's been sailing.

sadly, some 90% of our fires are human-caused. recently, it’s been idiots shooting at illegal explosive targets on public lands

Dang. Yea.
I read the local LEO calls lately. It’s a lot of reports about unlawful fires, fires left burning, fireworks being shot off, stuff like that.
Also a call about a tourist starting a dispute in a business about wearing masks, and some folks who stopped their car on the highway and got out to take pictures of a lake.
