I don't expect justices to not have policy views.

That said, we should all expect them to operate in good faith, and putting legal principles ahead of their policy views. The very purpose of disclosure requirements is to provide the sunlight that is the best disinfectant.

Skirting those requirements (which is such a charitable description of what happened here that I should get a tax deduction for it) stinks to the high heavens.

And, I should add: we should CERTAINLY expect the justices to be free of financial influence from interested parties.

Dare I say it: an illegitimate court is either reformed or ignored because it is unjust. Consent of the governed is not repression by the lawless. The thing about rubes is that they are easily disposed of once power is consolidated in the hands of fascists. Mr. Smith did not go to Berchtesgarten until he joined the Eighth Air Force.
