UNESCO, and a whole slew of archaeologists have come out in opposition

my knee-jerk was obviously that this is a terrible idea
however, depending on how it’s done, i might could soften and even support the idea. i’ve never had the good fortune to visit Egypt, so i’m not sure what level of accessibility any of the pyramids have. but, if this could be done in a way that improves accessibility without ruining the historical/archaeological value? my mind immediately went to a place like Mesa Verde, where some of locales and structures can be toured in a controlled fashion. the experience of doing so makes a visit so much more informative, rewarding and worthwhile (at least for me), than just viewing everything from the canyon rims and reading an education placard

I think a lot of the structures in Mesa Verde were reconstructed. As well as most Mayan cities.

GUTTERED......
* Gutter wakes up at 5:15am. It's typically a good thing when I wake up. Today, maybe not.
* Gutter's Wifi and cable are out. Gutter checks Xfinity outages on his phone and it states service should be restored by 6:15am. It's now 6:35am. Xfinty changes estimated restoration time to "as soon as possible". Shit happens.
* Gutter tries to pay ComEd (electric bill) from his cell phone. ComEd was supposed to change new billing system and it was supposed to be completed by 2/19. Nope, still not completed. Shit happens.
* Gutter puts on clothes to go downstairs and check mail. As Gutter is doing this he hears sirens outside. Sees multiple fire trucks and ambulances in front of his building. Gutter calls downstairs. Person stuck in elevator. All elevators shut down temporarily. Shit happens.
* Gutter goes to make coffee. As coffee is brewing Gutter washes cereal bowl in kitchen sink and notices very low water pressure. Hmmm. Gutter then notices no hot water. Gutter checks shower and of course low water pressure and no hot water. Looks like no shower for Gutter this morning. Shit happens.
* Gutter checks work email on his phone. Two big issues that need to be addressed as soon as he arrives at the office. Shit happens.
* Gutter sitting in/on chair in living room. Gutter gets up from chair to go take blood pressure meds. Gutter proceeds to bump in to corner of glass coffee table and put a gash in his lower leg. Not much blood but some. Shit happens.
* Gutter bets 4th race at Greyville in South Africa. Shows a minute until post time. Makes several wagers to hedge himself. Bets long shots first. Gets shut out on Superfecta with horse he liked on top. Of course it wins. 3 to 1 over 12 to 1 over 2 to 1 over 7 to 2. Supposed to paid $775 for $1 wager. Shit happens.
Moral of the story.....
Things can always be worse but be happy you're not Gutter getting GUTTERED!

Icing on the cake. I was getting dressed and ready to leave for work. Fire trucks and ambulances back. Person/people stuck in elevator AGAIN. Elevators turned off. Gutter lives on 50th floor. Looks like I am walking down 50 flights of stairs. Shit happens.
Better to have to walk down than up.

“Over a couple hours my face just started swelling, my lips swelled, I could hardly talk,” the patient told First Coast News.“I couldn’t even get up to go to the bathroom without my nose starting to bleed.”
The man visited HCA Florida Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville and consulted with Dr. David Carlson, an ear, nose and throat specialist who was on call.
Carlson was shocked when he looked inside the man’s nose with a camera. He saw dozens and dozens of bugs feeding on the nose and sinus cavity ― some as big as the end of his pinkie.
“I knew he was in big trouble, there was erosion that was occurring near the skull base in very close proximity to his eye and his brain,” Carlson said.
At first, the physician tried using suction to remove the insects, which were in the larval stage. But they were too large, so he had to extract them one by one from the man’s nose.
“They were right up against his skull base, right under the brain, had they gone through that it could have killed him,” Carlson said.
The bugs have since been sent to an epidemiologist to determine their species. The patient is expected to make a full recovery.
It remains a mystery how the larvae got inside the man’s nose, but he told First Coast News that the problem might have stemmed from his bad hygiene habits when handling dead fish.
