The world's best negotiator?

Senate Reaches $19 Billion Deal For Disaster Aid Without Border Wall Funding

The Senate approved a $19.1 billion disaster aid package Thursday that includes money for states impacted by flooding, recent hurricanes and tornadoes, as well as money for communities rebuilding after wildfires.

The measure passed overwhelmingly — 85-8.

Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Richard Shelby, R-Ala., announced the deal hours before lawmakers were planning to head home for a weeklong Memorial Day recess. The bipartisan agreement came after months of negotiations.

The bill also includes funding for Puerto Rico, which is still recovering from devastating hurricanes in 2017. The president had previously resisted sending additional money there, a stance that derailed talks on disaster funding in April.

The deal does not include any funding for any border-related programs, something that the White House had sought. Shelby said he spoke with the president about the legislation, and that Trump was supportive of it.

Disney, NBCUniversal and WarnerMedia just joined Netflix in threatening to boycott Georgia boycott if its abortion ban takes effect.. And Sony, and AMC.....

Disney CEO Bob Iger said on Thursday that it would be “very difficult” for his company to continue filming in Georgia if the state’s abortion bill becomes law. “I rather doubt we will,” Iger said in an interview with Reuters.“I think many people who work for us will not want to work there, and we will have to heed their wishes in that regard. Right now we are watching it very carefully.”

His comments were echoed by the heads of NBCUniversal and WarnerMedia, who confirmed they too would have to seriously consider pulling their operations from Georgia if the state’s abortion ban goes into effect...

n 2008, the state passed a generous 30% tax break for TV and film production and last year they brought in over 92,000 jobs and an economic impact of over $9 billion.

...“The Avengers,” “Black Panther,” “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” and many other recent box office hits have all been shot, at least in part, in the state.

Two major film productions were pulled from the state after the law was signed, Amazon’s “The Power” and Lionsgate’s “Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar,” starring Kristen Wiig, but no major film company has made a statement until now...

Increased up to 25% in 5 months.
I like it....will create a tumbling economy unseen in almost a century.

Possibly the only thing that could run this fucking idiot out of office.

The Pentagon has reportedly communicated to the White House that it will not allow the U.S. military to be politicized, a move that comes amid a controversy involving a directive to keep the USS John S. McCain out of President Trump's sight during his visit to Japan.

Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan "directed his chief of staff to speak with the White House military office and reaffirm his mandate that the Department of Defense will not be politicized," Lt. Col. Joe Buccino, a Pentagon spokesman, said in a statement, according to Reuters...

“USS John McCain needs to be out of sight,” an email outlining the president's plans for the trip read, the Journal reported. “Please confirm #3 will be satisfied."

Trump's proposed tariffs on Mexico would be biggest tax hike in almost 30 years

...The Tax Foundation’s estimates only apply to the initial 5 percent tariffs. If the White House makes good on its threats of 25 percent on all Chinese and Mexican imports, the revenues would reach 1.45 percent of GDP, a figure last reached after a 1968 tax increase, according to the Treasury Department.

On Sunday, acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney said President Trump is “deadly serious” about following through on the Mexican tariffs

How pathetic. "Make America Great Again" my ass.

Washington Post: Pompeo concedes Middle East plan "may be rejected"

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told Jewish leaders "one might argue" that the White House's upcoming Middle East plan is "unexecutable" and might not "gain traction," reports the Washington Post, which obtained audio of the closed-door meeting.

"It may be rejected. Could be in the end, folks will say, 'It's not particularly original, it doesn't particularly work for me,' that is, 'it's got two good things and nine bad things, I'm out.'"

Details: The release of the plan — led by President Trump's son-in-law and White House senior adviser, Jared Kushner, has been repeatedly delayed — something Pompeo noted during the private meeting with the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations on Tuesday. He conceded it had "taken us longer to roll out our plan than I had originally thought it might — to put it lightly," according to the Post.

Pompeo said there are "no guarantees that we’re the ones that unlock" the deadlocked conflict, but he hoped "everyone will engage in a serious way," per the Post.

"I get why people think this is going to be a deal that only the Israelis could love," Pompeo said, addressing the widespread belief that the plan will favor the Israeli government. I hope everyone will just give the space to listen and let it settle in a little bit."

Aren't you the guy who claims not to be a defender of Donald Trump? And yet, here you are with the daily "What aboutism..." to defend Donald Trump.

There is no comparison between Obama toasting at the wrong time and Donald Trump dishonoring D-Day and the veterans lying at Colleville sur Mer by airing his own ugly pronouncements as part of his 2 year old type petulance against others. I've been to Colleville sur Mer and everyone walks around with tears in their eyes, Everyone. But not your personal hero--he saw it as just one more chance to display his meanness. It's bad enough that Trump is a disgusting draft dodger, but that he shamed all of us with his behavior in Normandy is just unreal.
