Are you planning to use the skin or the other parts?

Not that I have a solution for you, but just curious.

Yea i wanna tan the hide. Hes a big skunk and the time of ywar and temperature make the fur excellent and usable. Any other time and the hair falls out if you try to tan it. The dude has been hanging out around my chicken coop for a few weeks, syealing eggs and trying to claw into the coop at night. Probably one reason ive lost a few chickens this year. Anyway, i trapped the bugger and shot him (bad idea, they spray when they die....i shouldve drown him). Now i got him packed in snow and debating what i should do with him. The last one i trapped i just tossed, but they were out of season and worthless.

Just curious, i could youtube it i guess, i just dont wanna hit his scent glands....thatd be a disaster. I know a couple trappers that pay good money for the scent glands, but id have to get a syringe and gasketed container to extract it and yknow, could be a messy learning experience. Guess i could just give him to my trapper buddy.

Dawn dish soap, baking soda, and hydrogen peroxide....if youre wondering.

drowning is probably the most inhumane thing you could do

glad you shot him...the smell will go away

Man so nighttime in the snow!

Got out for a little XC ski after dark. Clear night with just enough moonlight reflecting off the snow to be able to see the trail without headlamps. Full moon can be bright enough to cast shadows.

It’s magical!

If you have snow on the ground in your neck of the woods, get out after dark and enjoy the experience.

Dwight: By all means. And I will carve the roast skunk. Angela?
Angela: Mmhm.
Dwight: Would you like the stink sack?
Angela: Is it any good?
Dwight: No, you don’t eat it. It’s a toy, like a wish bone. You know, prettiest girl gets the stink sack.
Angela: Thank you. [both laugh]
Shirley: So, when’s the wedding?
Angela: Oh, um actually uh, we are just friends.
Shirley: That’s what Mose said about his lady scarecrow and look what he did to that poor thing.

not sure how i feel about this

https://www.popularmechanics.com/scienc ... ed-ferret/

on one hand, it’s awesome that this is possible...in the other, what’s the point if such species are functionally extinct (habitat is gone, persecution remains, the species will really only exist under spectacular and highly controlled situations, etc)

Velveeta cheese with fresh garlic chopped and mixed in, molded into a ball. Trout slayer bait.

Prolly doesnt work well on a Fly rod, sorry ous. If it does tho, I want full credit for your increased catch/client catch numbers.

how well does it stay on a hook?

how big a ball?

does it have to be cooler so it stays molded in a ball or could you melt in a crock pot with some chips?

Powerbaitish size ball, betrer cooled off so it molds and stays. Also used it melted and smeared on a marshmallow with ok results. Stays on the hook decently if its (garlic cheese) is cooled.
