I sort of hope UK gets Jay Wright and he hates it after 16 months and retires again and then they're really left holding their dicks.
One thing Jay Wright is NOT is stupid.
Mario disagrees.

Told ya lol. Calipari abandoning ship. The Kentucky fan base is just too much to deal with
Seems like he knew Kentucky was close to moving on. He survived this off season meeting, but knew he probably wouldn't have made it through another if they didn't make a deep tournament run.
Kentucky might be about to find out the grass isn't always greener if they can't get one of their main targets.
Their fans seem to want Hurley Wright Donovan Drew or Oats.
Calipari going to be on a mission to beat UK at Arkansas.
Calipari would have made an additional $33 million if he got fired so I doubt that alone was the driving force. One theory I heard is that he had been poking around behind the scene looking into other jobs and UK found out and let him know that this violated his contract (which requires UK give permission before he does so). So they gave him an option to move on or be fired for cause, nullifying his contract and staining his legacy further.
Selfish me wants to see Kentucky get turned down by their first 20 choices. Sounds like UConn's Hurley has stated that he has no intention to leave, so Hurley and Oats are already out and Wright and Donovan are most likely to also say no.

ok, but he's not getting multiple top-5 talent every year to come to fayetteville unless he starts winning more than he has been doing. and he's been relying on such talent for wins he's gotten, so not sure how he's gonna solve that catch-22.
That may in the end help Calipari and Arkansas because he hasn't been doing great with all these Top 10 recruits as of late.

Personally, I think that reflects poorly on Mario (and Sherron, to a lesser extent).

in my mind:
hurley to khintuckey is a non-starter. not gonna happen.
jay wright - see above. non starter. not gonna happen.
donovan - who knows. he is currently trying to get his team into the nba playoffs. who know.
oats - him making a post on twitter saying he will be back to alabama means nothing.
until calipari is official to arkansas. nothing can happen. and it is all speculation.
in my mind. no realistic candidate has really turned them down yet.
if i had to predict right now. shortly after calipari is official. oats will be named.

I'm not sure Nate would be so bold to say something like this if that was the case:
“We have already accomplished some great things here, and there is nothing I want more than for the University of Alabama to win its first national championship in men’s basketball,” Oats said in the statement. “Despite any rumors to the contrary, rest assured that I will continue that pursuit as your head coach.”

maybe.
nate oats is 49. alabama does not seem like a destination job.
maybe not kintuckey. but i would be surprised if alabama is his last stop.
i predict he will go to kintuckey.

The last two repeat champs both lost to Kansas during the regular season their second championship year
Banner worthy?
KU also beat Kentucky those seasons.
All that and $9.78 (plus tax) gets us a slice of pizza and a large coke at Sbarro.
Wasn't intended as a super positive thing, moreso just a fun fact.
Sbarro definitely was not that much the last time I was there. Which I think was high school.

Don't get me wrong, I feel it was/is kind of a cool fun fact. I'm a fan of fun facts so thanks for sharing it.
I had to look up what the prices are at Sbarro. I haven't eaten at one in about 15 years.
Back to the 2023/2024 season....
My final verdict on the entire season = It was JUNK! Unless you're a UConn fan. I'm not, but I am a fan of their style of Basketball.

Sure enough, Gutter did his research.
A slice of Sbarro's and a large coke will run you 9.78 before tax.
Please, for the love of god, buy a one ride subway ticket for 2.90 ( 2 bucks when I lived there! ), walk a block over to Herald's Square ( bc the one I remember in Times Square has since closed so you have to be around The Garden ) and take the BDFM to W4th/Washington Square and walk South on 6th past the IFC theater and Washington Square basketball court ( watch some fucking ballers ) and take a quick right turn on Carmine Street.
There'll be Joe's on Carmine, one of the best places in the city to get a single slice.
You can get one for 4 dollars ( 2.75 when I lived there! ). A 20 oz soda is 2.25. Thats a little over 9 bucks ( food + commute ) and now you're eating way better pizza in a way better neighborhood with some spare change.

pfft, what're you gonna do, walk back?

Why not?
Probably 20-30 minute walk.
I'd consider going another block over to 5th once you're around 14th street - that'll take you past the Flat Iron ( maybe you'll be able to find a candy for 60 cents at Eately ) and Madison Square Park and then you'll hit the Empire and take a left to head back to Sbarro's.
But no, you actually don't have to, with that 2.90 subway ticket, you get one free transfer to a bus for 2 hours, so you could take the bus back.
