Sigh.

It’s funny - we’re the ones with the rep for ncaa trouble, and they’re the “brotherhood,” despite having had just as many recruits implicated in bullshit as us.
Pretty sure over the last 10 years we've had significantly more eligibility issues than they have had.

Honestly I don't remember a single duke player being ruled ineligible in the last 5 or so years. We've had multiple guys.
They’ve been implicated, just never suffered any eligibility or other consequences.

Zion named in the same trial as Silvio, plus recently with the porno lawyer.

Wendell Carter’s family got a McMansion, (but that I guess is squeaky clean AAU ball)

Carter’s teammate (that’s other OAD whose name I forget) was implicated but let off the hook by duke’s “thorough investigation” tweet later that day.

Lance Stephenson got a $70k line of credit from a jewelry store then crapped out on it.

(Meanwhile, KU suffers eligibility issues such as Diallo’s de facto suspension cuz they wanted to see his 6th grade report card...)

So what you're saying is none of their players have been suspended or ruled ineligible? Meanwhile a handful of ours have been suspended or ruled ineligible.

Let me know when 2 duke coaching staff members are caught on wiretaps or have text messages presented as evidence in an fbi investigation.

If I wanted improper benefits, and to also not be ruled ineligible, I'd be going to duke too at the moment. Definitely not KU in the midst of our shit storm.

Duke has just as many issues. But they are the golden boy and are protected. The NCAA needs a big name to prove they are being mcgruff tough on crime. Unfortunately it appears we may be there scapegoat.

Which duke players have been suspended that could make them have "just as many issues" as we have had? (The answers is none I'm pretty sure, our answer would be 5? 6? 7? Players)

This idea that they're protected is a bit too conspiracy theory-ish for me.

They're not protected. They're just better at breaking the rules and not getting caught than we are.

Ugh, I was about to illymeter this post up, but you might be right.

Perhaps our recruiting woes are not due to concern over the investigation in itself, but more concern over the fact the benefits aren’t as available at the moment, compared to what other schools may continue to offer.

This is the point you're missing. There's a lot of smoke around Duke players. You'd think surely a couple of those guys, Zion, Bagly, Carter, etc. would have at least had to miss a few games given the implications, but none of them have.

It's the fact that they haven't that looks fishy. You're pretending the lack of suspensions clears them, but the opposite is true. There's tons of evidence that would warrant NCAA investigations/suspensions/sanctions etc. but none have.

This part you might be right about. But, that they haven't been caught with anything, but have been implicated several times, and the NCAA hasn't acted like they're gonna go after them, like they have about us, is, at best, fishy.

I'm sure some players are concerned we may face a post season ban for a year or 2....but I don't think it's more than 50% chance that happens....but the main issue is that these improper benefits are widespread (duh, just look at the list implicated in the fbi investigation that only covers players from a couple recruiting classes)....at the moment it's highly likely either Adidas, or Kansas itself, are not wanting to continue to offer these improper benefits because people are landing in jail because of them.

Just look at all the recruits going to Adidas schools for next year who are ranked in the top 50. There's only 1 or 2. And 1 of them is a home town kid staying in Indiana.

Kansas likely generates more money for the NCAA to pocket than Duke does, right?

This is silly. It's just a coping mechanism being used to ignore that we got caught with our hand in the cookie jar.

I'm not missing the point. Duke has smoke around them, so does everyone else that's worth a damn....

The context is recruiting. Recruits aren't going to be scared off of duke because players from their program have been mentioned in some stuff. Everyone knows players are getting paid. It's not a secret. It's not just occasional. It's widespread.

They would be scared off if 1 school has coaches with text messages and phone calls being used as evidence in an fbi trial and have also had multiple players ruled ineligible over the last few years....we literally have 1 almost every year either suspended or completely ruled ineligible.

The players want their money....but they also want to play. Duke is better at facilitating both of those things than we are.

Kansas "generates" more money for the NCAA "to pocket" than Duke?
I don't have a clue what the NCAA "pockets" but I do know Duke Basketball "generates" a lot more money than KU basketball.

I don't believe so. I think Duke is the better "Exposure" program, which helps the NCAA. ESPN all over them as we saw with the whole Zion thing this year. Coach K being the Olympic coach also helps the NCAA in terms of exposure.

Kansas had a Big 12 streak and the 8pm CT Big Monday games.

Maybe I'm off on my assumption about how much each school generates in terms of money, but I don't think the difference is enough that duke is protected can can break rules without being punished. That's a bit over the top imo.

Regarding the Zions and Bagleys and the top-tier recruits in general:

It just seems fishy that the best, most talented, most highest profile, most marketable recruits who command the highest prices once they’re pros are also somehow squeaky clean amateurs, yet it’s the Silvios who are raking in the impermissible benefits?

Please.

No doubt.

It's not that our recruits get paid and theirs don't. That's silly. It's that ours seem to get caught and theirs don't. And it's not a surprise. Look at who we have had get caught. Where they're from. How mature/intelligent their parents (or more frequently with us their "guardians" are).

The problem seems to be that either Nike or Duke operate in a more intelligent and covert way than Adidas or Kansas. (Since we are comparing the 2)...and the shit our coaches exposed themselves to in texts and phone calls directly speaks to that.
