Just not a fan of today's perennial roster reshuffle to try to make a contender and all of the rumors that go with that.

Phoenix Suns always trying to compete with Sacramento as the dumbest franchise.

Not sure I agree...Paul/Booker/Ayton is a really nice group, and actually complementary. They're not on the level of the Lakers or Clippers, but I think they can be in the next group down.

That's where I'm coming from. You have an 8 seed-y team in 2021 if Paul plays younger than his actual age of 35.

The Suns #1 issue by far right now is convincing Booker to stay long term. An over the hill PG that has proven to be injury prone and not built for the playoffs who is owed $90m over next 2 seasons doesn't seem like the kind of long-term commitment Booker wants.

So no cap room, no depth, and a loss of a draft pick when they're going to have to rebuild when Booker leaves, all to get bounced in the first round.

I am sunnier on it than you, fine.

It is a weird time to do this, though; this is the sort of move that would seem to be partially justifiable by ticket sales etc.

"Sunnier?!!"

In Suns's defense, this may be the only move they could make to keep Booker from sitting out Kawhi-style right now. They keep their 2020 10th overall pick. That's huge.

Meanwhile, though, OKC has 16 first round picks over the next like 6 drafts.

(Maybe they'll do something crazy like draft Hall of Famers in three consecutive drafts, wouldn't that be wild and inevitably result in multiple titles.)

Harden and Irving on the same team? What could possibly go wrong 🤷🏻‍♂️

Suns got better - but how much better?
Houston and OKC look like they drop out of the convo - so Suns looking at 5-8 kinda seed in the West.
I guess exciting for poor Phoenix fans but they certainly won't be contending for anything.

Expanding on the Jayhawks in NBA thread: Bucks send Bledsoe, Hill and 3(!) future first round picks to NOP for Jrue Holiday.

Yeesh. I'd almost make Giannis re-sign before pulling that trigger.

If they did that without assurances from Giannis...they're looking at a five-year Superfund site period.

Traded for Bogdanovich too. So now MIL easily has the best starting 5 in the east and arguably even the league.

But no depth and will have to rely on old guys on minimum contracts + Frank Mason. So, possibly mortgaging the future for an Eastern Conference Title.

Text exchange with my Indian (NOT Native American) buddy Varun who is from Milwaukee and our Indonesian friend Leo.

Varun - Bucks got taken to the woodshed on that trade. Hope Jrue Holiday is worth it - for one year.
Leo - The need to show something to the elephant in the room.
Varun - Well they made another trade. They are cleaning house.
Me - Looks like right now Frank Mason is your starting PG.
Varun - Yeah, they mortgaged the future and the bench.....Hope it was worth it.
Varun - Or it will be another 20 years of non-relevancy.

The math is crazy:

Robert Covington = 2 1st rounders
Jrue Holiday = 3 1st rounders + 2 pick swaps
Russell Westbrook = ?
James Harden = ?

Are the Pelicans going adopt the slogan "Trust the Process"?
I sure hope they trade some of those picks for some established players instead of question marks.

Westbrook probably has negative value at the moment.

I would have thought so before yesterday.

If Jrue Holiday equals 3 1st rounders and 2 swaps, Russ is worth about 5 1st rounders a 3 pick swaps.
