it also could've been that I still don't feel great and I spent all day in the absolutely dumping rain covering the wood pile the camper, moving the brush pile to burn and turning over the pasture again prepping for winter seed.
in good news I mayyyy have won a bid to rebuild a Bar that burnt up this summer....its a historical building built in the late 1800s that has to be rebuilt as a historically accurate remodel. Thats a pain in the ass, trying to save big timber trusses etc but fun.....and very expensive. Would be a great winter job....and way more interesting than a newer home remodel.

That’s pretty cool.
How do you save the timber trusses if they’ve burned?
Would you have to re-hew boreds by hand and stuff in the historically accurate way?

depends on damage. you have either soda blast them or dry ice blast them and determine how much usable timber is there....on this one if you can save 6x6 inches of lumber they are considered structurally sound.
if you have to replace it is very expensive...very hard to find big timber like that anymore. Has to be custom made or you have to find other buildings being torn down to salvage

Narrow parameters on a redo like you've laid out. I've had to contact small local mills to get era accurate timbers I've had to replace in historical projects I've worked on. Oh, and I hope you've tripled your estimated man hours--there's a wealth of just standing and staring, discussions, and decision making involved in these kind of projects.

yea I've got to go look at it again today and re-enter the bid after a meeting Monday. We added a shitload of man hours just for situations like that. We also added a whole bunch of float time and disclaimers regarding procurement. They've narrowed the contractors down to 2 of us so now I've got to get scope very clearly defined and make sure my ass is covered on multiple levels. It really would be a sweet job though.

Called the president of the ski club. She says yes it’s legit she has my skis, apparently there were several issues with assholes walking around all night with skis for sale so no one else could check them out, then not actually buying them.
People suck.
Gimme a bucket. Let’s start this shitshow back up. Sing me a song Dale.

Fried some chicken for breakfast.

And some outlaw country.
Good shit!

Ohh, the Stevie Wonder tune.
Pretty sure Neil knows that one. If we’re not gonna put the game on then let’s ask him to take the stage.
